Yes, it’s kind of important to know how old the OP is -
Under 18, the most you can do is respectfully make your case for why working, or whatever else you’re asking to do, would be good for you rather than harmful. (Your parents are right, in this case, though. High school kids that work are more likely to get lousy grades, drink, take drugs and be promiscuous than those who don’t) If you are over 18, listen respectfully to your parents concerns and then do what you think is best.
