I think I’m a little behind the curve on this topic but after looking at the site and poking around several of the steps it just seem to pigeon hole you into selecting the answer the designer of the site wants you to select. If you select the wrong one then it goes back and tells you to reselect it which has already been mentioned but I had it on my mind and needed to say it anyway.
Angel7:
All im Trying to do is to get someone who does not believe in G-d. To think Logically, and to start thinking, don’t seek to prove us wrong, but seek the real answer, and the Truth.
Despite being atheistic, I I quite often find myself thinking about the possibility that God exists and try to come up with reasons why it may or may not be true. I can never seem to come up with an answer one way or the other besides the idea of a god or gods goes against everything I hold to be true. There are a great deal of things that can’t be explained that I don’t know the answer to but at the same time I’m prefectly happy not “knowing” the answer.
To me the idea of God isn’t logical, for me it’s completely illogical, I really don’t see how people can just believe in something like that, regardless if it’s catholic, christian, islam, or any of the other religions out there. I can’t think my way logically to believing in the existance of God if the whole idea is completely illogical to me.
For example, I do think Jesus was a real person but I can’t bring myself to the conclusion that a supernatural all power being was his father because that’s not logically possible. A new life is created when a man and a woman have some sex and the egg gets fertilized by the sperm. 9 months later if all goes well a healthy kid pops out. If someone today claimed they suddenly became pregnant without having sex or being artificially fertilized she’s be called crazy. As soon as that kid was born a DNA test would be run to see who the fater was. Biologically speaking it’s impossible for a human child to be born without 2 sets of DNA, at least so far as I’ve ever known.
From my perspective the bible was written by several people spanning several centuries. There are alot of good stories and many hold historical value. I think people needed something to believe in and to explain the world around them which is fine because at the time, that was pretty much the main source of all that was happening in the world. People experienced things they couldn’t explain or understand and they attributed it to a supernatural being of some sort which took the form of many different gods with all kinds of stories (depending on what their culture believed) to give them an explanation of the world so that they could understand it.
From my perspective the origins of most religions stem from 1 of 3 things; superstition, power, control, or a combination of the three. When I look at things like the Catholic church (and I only use it as an example because it’s the big dog on the block right now) I see the most powerful organization on the planet when it comes to getting people to do what it wants. I see something that has somewhere around 1 billion followers and think to myself that no one would possibly give that up willingly. The vatican is one of the most awe inspiring buildings in the world. It’s a castle built for a king of kings, a king with a billion followers that look to his word his word as though God himself were speaking, seemingly without question. That’s real power and that scares the **** out of me.
Now, I know I got a bit off track there but one thing led to another.

Anyway back to the original point I was trying to make. The whole idea of a god flies in the face of anything that I consider logical.
Now if there’s a creator out there so be it. Personally I’ll never know so I’m not going to waste energy devoting my life to something like that. Realistically no one will ever know because if it did exist it would be so impossibly unfathomable to even consider how such a being even could exists, I don’t think anyone could really get their heads around it beyond just the statement that something like that exists. Another example; they say the universe is something like 14 billion years old. Sure I can say the number and I know that’s a long time but in my mind I can’t really imagine how long of a time that really is because if I live to be 100 I’ll be lucky. Now try to imagine a being exists that created such a place, it’s impossible to even fathom it beyond the basic concept.
Beyond the act of putting words into it, I can’t really imagine such a thing in all its vastness and power. And even if i could or it could possibly be proven, the universe has been around a loooooooong time and getting along just fine without us. Then homo sapiens as a species appeared MAYBE 500,000 years give or take. That’s just the blink of an eye on cosmological time. The concept of gods as far as I can tell only even started 3-6 thousand years ago. Even if it were all true, we are just one little dot, not even a grain of sand on a beach in the vastness of the universe, so insignificant when compared to the scope and size of what we call reality, why would such an all powerful being even care about what happens on this planet or what anyone on it believes or doesn’t believe?
