I would like Protestants to realize how much they need to rejoin with the Catholic Church and it is she that has the bible all interpreted well. For we know the Catholic Church is the only Church that interprets scripture the right way and know human being can attempt to do what she has done in 2,000 years. For people have been lead astray by the many doctrines that are Protestant. Although Protestants in good faith can be saved we there doctrines are quite not in the bible.

"By Faith Alone"

James 2,26
For just as a body withous a spirit is dead so also faith without works is dead.

James 2,24
See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

Sola Scriptura

Not even in the bible!!!

Once saved always saved

Roman 11,22
See then the kindness and severity of God. Severity toward those who fell(We Catholics call this Mortal sin) and God’s kindness to you, provided you remain in his kindness(What we Catholics call the state of grace)

I will might post more later but the point is that if you really believe the scripture are inspired, then believe all of this.

Oh yeah!

John Calvin’s No need to pray Doctrine

1 Timothy 2,1
First of all, then, I ask that supplications, prayers, petitions, and thanksgiving be offered for everyone.

If you really believe the scriptures are inspired come into the Catholic Church.

and ccel.org/ccel/calvin/prayer.iii.i.html [section 1 of 52]

Excerpt:

To know God as the sovereign disposer of all good, inviting us to present our requests, and yet not to approach or ask of him, were so far from availing us, that it were just as if one told of a treasure were to allow it to remain buried in the ground. Hence the Apostle, to show that a faith unaccompanied with prayer to God cannot be genuine, states this to be the order: As faith springs from the Gospel, so by faith our hearts are framed to call upon the name of God (Rom. 10:14). And this is the very thing which he had expressed some time before, viz., that the Spirit of adoption, which seals the testimony of the Gospel on our hearts, gives us courage to make our requests known unto God, calls forth groanings which cannot be uttered, and enables us to cry, Abba, Father (Rom. 8:26). This last point, as we have hitherto only touched upon it slightly in passing, must now be treated more fully.
A few of his own prayers:

Well to let Protestants dig their own graves in apologetics ask them until when do they agree 100% with the teachings of the Church in terms of doctrine and dogma and Church Councils. Then bring out every single Church Father and Doctor of the Church to blow them to bits 😉

I am sorry then that I mis understood, Calvin then. However if Calvin believes in faith alone, then I have to object. The bible says “not by faith alone” in a clear fashion yet Protestantism rejects it.

Hi,

Thank you for your concern over my spiritual well being.😃 I come to these forums to learn about the CC but I am extremely happy at my non-denom church. I have grown in Christ like never before. I have also grown in Christ by being on these forums. I love talking to everyone here. While I do believe in all you say is wrong, it is most important to me that I have a personal relationship with Christ and try to be more like Him. Which as you know is a moment by moment struggle:eek: I feel this is more important to me then joining a certain denom. Anyone in any church can have this relationship it just depends on where God is leading that person to be. God lead me to this church and in the last 3 years I have seen my purpose there unfold. That is a tremendous feeling. If God was leading me to the CC I would go, but as of yet that has not happened. I truly appreciate you reaching out to us protestants. I just wanted you to know that I am in fellowship with God and He with me and He has been working in my life in small and big ways.

Thank you and Peace:D

I am glad you feel that way, but you are still required to look for truth as I am still struggling to do right now. Any person would know(not to be offensive) that Protestant Churches do not have the fullness of truth. You are still required to look for the fullness of truth. We need to draw near God so he will draw close to us. God wants you to have the fullness of truth, since he is just that. Protestant Churches have truth, but only parts of it. However all of them came one way or another from the Catholic Church, which is historically proven. But who gave people the authority to protest against the Church of Christ and form new ones to fit their own desires. This highly dangerous in the fact that they have only existed for only 500 years and the Catholic Church for 2,000. Protestants are in fact part of the Catholic Church in a mystical way, however you still should come to know the fullness of her. You must love her if you really want to really love God as much as you can.

Hi,
Fair enough.😃 The difference we have is that I feel the fullness in God’s truth is in the Bible and you feel it is in the church. I do go to a church that is Bible only and they do not conform to society like some denoms do. I like the fact that the CC does not do that either. I like how they stand by Biblical principles. Too bad all denoms dont do that.😦 My minister told me that our church is very similar to conservative catholics. We are probably not as different as you think. At least me anyway–I cant speak for other protestants of course. If God leads me to the CC I will definitely come to you because you seem like you would welcome me with arms wide open.😃

Thanks and Peace

But have you thought of this:
Maybe me talking to you right now is one of God’s ways of leading you into the Catholic Church. But you must understand that the Catholic Church is the one who organized the Bible into what is today. She is the one who infallibly decided what books would go in and which would not. We could use someone faithful like you. Maybe God is calling you right now and you don’t know it. Every moment is filled with God’s mercy and yet we usaullly don’t realize it.

Hi there ALLFORHIM,

I am confused and questioning your “feeling” concerning that the fullness of God’s truth is in the Bible. If you are a Bible believing Christian and I also feel as a Catholic, I am as well (I truly believe 100% of EVERYTHING the Bible says) … then why in 1 Timothy 3:15 does it tell us that that it is the church that is the pillar and foundation of truth and not the Bible?
1 Timothy 3:15 "But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth."
The problem is, I don’t believe in YOUR interpretation of that verse because as a Bible believing Christian, the Bible tells me as a Catholic differently!

Peace of Christ,
Kevin

I feel the Fullness of Gods Truth when I hold his beloved Son in my hands and then follow his admonition to eat HIS body and drink His blood.

The only reason you have a Biible to seek the fullness in truth in is becuase of the Catholic Cburch. It was the One True Church. the Church founded by Jesus himself that set the number of books-1100 hundred years before non-deniminational ,man made Church’s came about. Without the Church you will NEVER exerience anything but a pale shadow of the Truth. Come home-you have no idea of the joy you are missing.

When I was still Protestant, I went to St. Andrew’s Seminary which is the place where all of the ministers of our denomination were trained. When I went into the chapel I noticed that it had been vandalized - there were statues of the 12 Apostles all around the perimiter of the ceiling, and their heads had all been knocked off.

When I asked about this, I was told that this had been done by John Knox and his followers, to signify that they were rejecting the authority of the Magesterium of the Catholic Church - the Pope with his Bishops who are in full communion with him.

I was totally confused by that, because I didn’t know what connection there was between the Magesterium of the Catholic Church and the Apostles, but I didn’t want to seem ignorant, so I didn’t say anything.

It was only much later that someone explained to me that the Pope and Bishops of the Catholic Church get their authority from the Apostles through a direct and unbroken line of succession.

It was then that I understood that John Knox and his followers were in fact rejecting not only the (then) present-day Magesterium, but the authority of the Apostles themselves, and indeed, Christianity itself, to invent their own religion - and that they knew exactly what they were doing.

It took me years to finally understand that, but what I don’t understand is why people who do understand the meaning of this gesture would continue to be Protestant? Would you not want to return to the Church of the Apostles - Christianity as it has been practiced for 2,000 years, the Catholic Church - if you knew that you were not already in it?

If you knew that the Church that Christ established on the Apostles was still in existence, why wouldn’t you want to become a member of it? Why would you continue to be a member of a church that was established on a philosophy of rebellion against the authority of Christ’s own Apostles, and more than a millenium after the time of Christ?

Oh boy where do I go with this…

First, you start with three titles (Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Once Saved Always Saved). And these three titles are generalized for all “Protestants”.

I hope you are aware that a title may or may not accurately describe the contents therein (example Mother of God).

I hope you are aware that there are whole branches of Protestantism that reject the title and the contents “Once Saved Always Saved” (my branch for example).

I hope you are aware that different branches of Protestantism while not rejecting the titles “Sola Fide” and “Sola Scriptura” do not actively use them. And those that use these or similar titles have different understandings of their meaning. What you think these titles mean is probably not the same as what we think they mean

If you look beyond the titles and look and try to understand the contents therein, there might not be as much disagreement as you are making it out to be.

I apologize then. But I never said that these things apply to all Protestants. The problem isn’t really the doctrines, it is establishing a Church seperate from Christ. I do not agree that you speak for all Protestants, but your denomination might not be in such a disagreement. But no reunion has occured meaning that some disagreements are still there. The point is that Jesus established one Church with Peter as his vicar. Then Luther and Calvin came and lead estray many people. Please do not take this offensive, but there is no Church that can mimic the Catholic Church.

While I understand that your Church may not disagreement as much, you should really see some Protestant denomination. The problem with Protestantism is that people are constantly comming up with new authorities that can reject whatever doctines they want. Who gave these people the authority to start new Churches? Did not Jesus say he would always be with his Church? He did and there was no need for a completely new Church to do reforming. I don’t see what is bad about “Mother of God” Jesus is God and Mary is his mother, there is nothing unclear about that.

Each denomination of Protestantism has the ability to choose whatever doctrine they like and reject the rest and this is why they keep dividing and increasing. I mean after knowing that the Protestant Church was established only 500 years ago and that Jesus had died 2,000 years ago why do people still persist. Everyone knows this and I am not going to believe that Jesus left the Church after 1500 years for another one.

Being extremely happy in the company of others who believe the same way on some things means nothing especially if what you are taught there is falsehood and heresy and you are buying into it. Also the same if you think you can replace the Pope with yourself and accurately use your own human mind to interpret Scripture and all that is needed for salvation correctly yourself. If you teach one thing in Scripture yourself then lets find another Born Again believer like you who will teach otherwise - there are many and the Holy Spirit does not teach error.

When your head stops spinning please come home. We will pray for you.

Ken

I apologize then. But I never said that these things apply to all Protestants.
Your origional post is directed specifically to calvinists and yet you say it is to protestants. Prostestant is simply too broad a term to use those arguments. AFAIK the Calvinists have been grumbling that they are the minority of Protestants these days! If your problem isn’t the doctrines then you should have begun with the problem rather than the doctrines.
if you think you can replace the Pope with yourself and accurately use your own human mind to interpret Scripture and all that is needed for salvation correctly yourself.
I know of no protestant who believes what you are spouting. We believe that the pope is “replaced” with God not ourselves. We are to get the interpretation of scripture from the Holy Spirit, not ourselves. Division comes when people fail to listen to the Holy Spirit. And I agree with you that division is bad. I will never agree that protestants all rely only on their own minds to interpret scripture. You are correct, the Holy Spirit dosn’t teach error. Any who teach error will be judged accordingly by God.

Image of God-give it a break! You nor I can judge a persons heart to where they feel the Holy Ghost is leading, nor can we judge what kind of relationship one has with Our Lord.

BTW-I am Catholic! SOLI DEO GLORIA
