Well, no, as long as they had truly repented and were determined to be chaste from said repentance. I say this because a couple of years before I met my DH i was engaged and my fiance and I had sex.
I fell for the most common justificationāāWe KNOW weāre going to get married, and we just ācanātā wait any longer.ā So many couples I know have fallen into that trap.
After the relationship ended I realized how foolish and sinful I had been, and I was determined to not fall into sin again. When I met my (now) husband, I was honest and told him exactly what had happened, and other parts of my past that are not so savoury.
It wasnāt a deal breaker for him. He saw that I was not that person any more, and was determined to live a life pleasing to God. Considering that he was 29 and a virgin when we married, even having been engaged previously, I was very grateful that he was willing to forgive my past and look beyond it.
So I would be a HUGE hypocrite if I said that was a deal breaker for me. If the person in question is truly repentant, and honest, and obviously dedicated to living a chaste life from here on out, then no. Not neccessarily a deal breaker.
ETA that I assumed the OP was talking about a previous premarital sexual relationship, not cheating on the current significant other. Obviously cheatingāespecially sexuallyāwould be a deal breaker for me, but not a previous relationship that had ended. If that makes sense.
