Attire for Vigil Mass

I attend Saturday Vigil Mass at my parish due to my hectic schedule during the week making Sunday the only day I can rest. I am stuck at work in casual attire and don’t have time to go home and change for Mass. What do I do? Would khakis a T-shirt and sneakers be that inappropriate? Answer soon please!
 
The important thing is that you’re going to Mass. You’re fine.
 
The best thing to do is to ask someone in your parish office. Some parishes don’t mind casual attire while others are more strict.
 
When I was in a similar situation, while there was nothing “offensive” per se about the t-shirt, I didn’t think my employer’s large logo was particularly appropriate for Mass. But I would usually keep an overshirt of some kind (flannel, corduroy, or similar) handy in the car, and throw that over. Or just keep my winter or rain wear on in Mass.
But if this is a cause for anxiety: How intrusive to your day of rest is it to go to church on Sunday?? 🤷‍♂️
 
No, Lily, that is misleading. Only the Vatican has guidlines and what the OP asked about would be perfectly fine.
If certain people in particular have a problem with what others wear, then that is actually their own problem.

I just got out of Mass and had no nasty looks directed at me :hugs:
 
Thats fine. Mass is not a fashion show, its for worship of God.

You will have to take the matter up with the person you speak to in your parish office.
 
Actually, my response is very sensible. They know what attire is acceptable at their parish and can advise the OP better than those who have not been to that parish.

Many wish to believe there are no rules in regard to appropriate attire for Mass. But there are whether those rules are spoken or not. They shouldn’t need to be voiced. Common sense should dictate what one wears.

I stand by my response to ask someone in the parish office what the appropriate attire is if you don’t already know. Some are more strict than others. Or one can ask their priest.

Well, exactly.

And anyway, I couldn’t see ‘asking the person in the parish office’ being any help at all in our parish with four different Sunday Masses… What would they know about what people were wearing, apart from what they see at the Mass they usually go to?

I’m thankful that no one in pajamas has showed up for Mass as of yet. Shorts maybe, but one sees that in resort/vacation destinations.
 
When in Scotland I often wear my kilt to Mass to remind me of Jesus’ Scottish connections.
 
Since the original poster regularly attends the Vigil Mass at his parish, why is he even asking a question about what to wear?

There is another option. He can take his church clothes with him and quickly change before leaving work.
 
One of my fellow parishoners wore a kilt at Mass as he had been selected as grand marshall for the local annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Though we do not get the connection.
