We have some family friends who are, now American, originally Egyptian Copts. They have Church about once a month and have to drive for more than 3 hours to get there.
Between me and the nearest church is 9 minutes walk. The next church is 10 minutes drive. Some places there are 5 minutes walk between churches and some there is 20 minutes drive… I live in Cairo the Capital so i dont know if your friend comes from teh country side . It really depend where he is. To drive three hours to reach a church in Egypt mean that your friend is living in the middle of the desert. If you can ask him abouyt the city and l,ocate it on the map exactly you can for yourself judge if his claim is true or not.

Most of them are wonderful people , some of them do have hate, just like most muslims are wonderful people but some of them have hate
but they have told me of scarey stories of what life was like being a Christian in Egypt.
They experienced friends and family members who various things happen to, such as, often when they have a baby, the Birth Certificate would be misprinted that the child was Muslim, not Christian and they have to fight for years to try to get it corrected.
I never heared of that but it could happen. Egyoptian state system is C.r.a.p muslis and christians alike suffer from the state. We have comic stories about people trying to prove they arent deceased! infront of a berucratic government employee because on paper they are deceased for some reason. Egypt is not computerised and handwriting and human errors occure so much in humungus size paper records stacked till the roof. Its somthing all Egyptians suffer from . It can happen sadly. The longer years are also a mark of egypotian government systems. court cases take sometimes 20 years to finish ( yes you read right, 20 years!!)
Others who in a certain Women’s Clothing Store in Cairo who where changing in the Dressing Room (teenage girls) were video taped and threated to become a Muslim or the videos would be put out over the internet bringing shame to their families,
i never heared of this or read about it any where. and it is not even a sensible way to convince someone of bieng muslim. It is insulting because it makes muslims look stupid. I am a religious muslim. Tell me what would i gain by blackmailing you into ‘‘saying’’ you are muslim?
Copt Priest’s wives have been known to be kidnapped and forced to marry into Islam and not allowed to every see their family members again, No , but sadly its a true incident of a wife of a prominent coptic priest declared she is becoming a muslim. The coptic community was in rage about her . and kept pressuring the Egyptian government untill the state security police delivered her to the coptic church . from the day she gone to the church nobody ever heared of her again . It is actually the opposite that happened a lady who decided she wanted to become muslim was forced to go to the church or else copts would cry that they are persecuted. It is an example for every muslim in Egypt that how we are in a muslim country that if it comes to a certain level of preists in Coptic community the state police prefers rto appease them than tolet freedom of religion.

Listen , Copts are religious. They are probably more religious than american christians. But many sadly also dont necessarily would accept the notions that you are defending here if it is applied to them. every copt converts to islam for them is kidnapped and forced . Even if this copt decares willingly that they wanted to be muslim they will say that they were under brainwash. The discussion ends as word against word. Western people who dont know muslims and never been and lived in Egypt fopr example are prone to be decieved.
Mentally Handicapped persons told to say the words (I can’t remember the phrase exactly, something like: There is only One God, Allah and Mohammed is his prophet) which causes one to become a Muslim and then the Mentally Handicapped person’s family are told they can not longer see him because he is now a Muslim, etc.
again , this is using western ignorance of islam . Listen, we are proud people of our fith and we are happy with it. We are confident with it. We are human like you . We dont take pride in forcing handikapped people to accepting somthing they dont want. The above goes totally aainst all what islam teached. First it is forbidden in our faith to force someone to accept it. This ismentioned clearly in the uran. 2nd there is no where in islam that says that muslims shouldnt see or visit or even have fun and go to picnics with their non muslim relatives
I am an Egyptian citizen and i am a cairo resident. I have never seen or heared any of this at least for the copts around me or the copts that i know. We help each other whenever the other needs help . as i told you Egypt wouldnt be Egypt if we dont see in the skyline Churches and mosques togeather.
