You’re probably right there. As it turned out, the documents didn’t seem to hold any more weight than they would have had, had they been issued as simple encyclicals from the Pope. If anything, they would have been a lot less ambiguous.Vat. II announced pronounced no doctrine. In fact, I can’t remember it pronouncing anything of real significance. If it never happened, I don’t think we’d be poorer for it.
I have, at a retirement community chapel, which surprised me since most of the attendees were most receptive to the EF Mass.Just out of curiosity, how many of you have experienced hostility by OF parishoners to the EF to the extent that they demanded the Bishop replace the priest offering EF Masses?
It’s possible, but no, we should not do it. The Traditional Latin Mass and Novus Ordo cannot mix. Attempting to do so would create a hybrid Mass, which is basically still a Novus Ordo with a few reverent parts thrown in. Benedict XVI has already admitted this is what he’s trying to do and it’s not a good thing.Rather than separate the two, does anybody think it would be possible to take the BEST of both Masses and combine them into a blended form? Like keeping “ad orientam” and Genuflecting during the Credo and Last Gospel, using the “recognizable” parts like Kyrie, Agnus Dei, Sanctus, while doing 'Our Father" and blessings in Vernacular. I believe that someone is already translating Gregorian Chant into English. (They really COULD lose that song, “I am the Lord of the Dance , said He”). I mean, in all reality, we’re supposed to give praise and thanks to God, celebrate the Eucharist, and sanctify our lives… Shouldn’t be be trying to UNIFY first, our own Catholic brothers and sisters, and THEN the rest of the world? HOW can we possibly do that, if we can’t even work together NOW? :newidea::hug1:
