I spend an hour or more in the car every day commuting and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions about good catholic audio books/ CDs that would be good to past the time. I have been listening to the lighthouse CDs, but they are not long enough for my commutes and I normally go through about 2 a Day.

I was thinking something that’s on the lighter side but is still spiritually nurturing.

Many Thanks!

Lighthouse Catholic has Michael D O’Brien’s Catholic Fiction.
Very Long. Very Good.

A Father’s Tale is amazing.

Bless you.

You can download the free app for relevantradio.com which is Catholic 24/7. There are many podcasts of the shows, all of them an hour long. i either listen live or to the podcasts. 🙂

I love:
  • audiosancto.org/ (very traditional teachings), they are all free to download (my favorite so far)
  • Father Chad Ripperger is awesome to listen too, I always learn something from him: sensustraditionis.org/multimedia.html . He’s very traditional as well. They are free to download but please say a decade of the rosary for him for each download (or zap a buck via paypal).
  • wdtprs.com/blog/podcazt/ Father Z puts together excellent podcasts to listen to IMO (all free)
  • I recently stumbled across alleluiaaudiobooks.com/ (from someone posting on this forum) and only started listening, but so far so good (and free).
  • proecclesia.com/page_free%20talks.htm has lots to offer (including several from Fulton Sheen)
  • I also like having the Bible, the Rosary (both English and Latin) on both my iPad and iPhone
I hope there’s a new favorite for you in this list and I’ll be watching this thread with great interest but I have far too many audio & video files loaded up to listen to already 😉

Thank you for all these resources! I’m beginning my journey to the Church, and nearly all of them were new to me. I listen to podcasts at work, so I’ll be checking out all of the lovely links.

Special thanks to Marchelli for mentioning Lighthouse. I Googled them and was awed by their selection and their prices. I signed up for their CD-of-the-month program and placed an order for three others. My Lighthouse “wish list” is already extensive, and I didn’t come close to exploring everything on the site!

Peace,
Willie in Maryland

I made a mistake. I’ve done a LOT of downloads and got mixed up.
Lighthouse Catholic has great homilies and talks.

Ignatius Press has downloads as well. Books - non fiction and fiction.
That’s where I got Michael D O’Brien’s Books.

Blessings
