Here’s the thing, though: you’re warning against attempts to prove science from the Bible, but these threads aren’t trying to do that. They’re just trying to demonstrate that the Bible doesn’t contradict the science. That’s pretty kosher, IMNSHO.I made this thread, because I saw a lot of threads recently pop up on attempting to reconcile Genesis 1 & 2 with evolution.
The previous theory was by Copernicus.Just to be clear, Galileo didn’t refute anything. He presented a theory and that’s it. A theory that has been presented before, by the way.
And his theory was based on arguments which some were kind of weird, such as saying that the tides were evidence that the earth is rotating.
What part didn’t make sense? The part about Galileo asserting his theory as truth (rather than theory)? Or the part about him not being able to prove it as true? What you said doesn’t make sense…
LOL! If Galileo had only said, “I’m pretty sure”, the whole sad episode wouldn’t have occurred. The tempest that ensued only came to pass because he insisted he was right, although he wasn’t capable of proving it!Indeed, he was pretty sure it was the truth.
