some calvinists try to appeal to augustine claiming that he taught sola fide and double predestination. On matt1618’s website, there is detailed information which refutes the idea that augustine taught sola fide, but where could i find info on augustine’s teaching on pre destination?

www.ccel.org has many of Augustine’s works. Click on Church Fathers. Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers, Series 1, vols. 1-8 are all devoted to Augustine. Vol. 2 has the City of God, which discusses predestination. Vol. 5 (if I remember rightly) has the anti-Pelagian writings which are the most specific works he devoted to that subject. His “Enchiridion” (in the volume Doctrinal and Moral Treatises) also deals with it.

Basically they are right but there are more nuances in Augustine than in Calvin, particularly WRT free will. And “double predestination” can mean a lot of things–Augustine was more careful than Calvin to distinguish between God’s action in choosing the elect and His decision to “pass over” the reprobate, though Calvin uses this language as well.
