Augustinian Eschatology is becoming Insufficient

For if the Lord of heaven and earth was able to first deliver the Jews from the purgation of slavery and give them a kingdom, and, after having become unfaithful to that Covenant, was able to chastise them and restore them to love of Him, and at that, it was only the OLD Covenant, where grace was not explicitly known, HOW MUCH MORE SO shall God be able to do the same for the Gentiles.

Ambrose, open your heart and consider: the Church went through the great purgation of pagan persecution and was delivered into the Kindom of the Middle Ages, which parallels the OT Kingdom of Israel. And behold, the Gentiles, beginning with Protestantism, have become progressively unfaithful to the New Covenant. Now the darkness is at its peak.

Why, then, could God not also chastise the modern world and restore the Gentiles hearts to the Christ they had known but have now forsaken, even as the Jews were chastised in the Exile after having known the God of Moses, but forsaked Him?

For the OT Antichrist did not come until after the Jews had been restored to love of God and restored to the Holy Land.

Why, therefore, should the NT Antichrist come now, when this is only the SECOND big spiritual darkness of Church history, and not the THIRD, as it was with the Jews.

And if you dare to interject that this is the New Covenant and not the Old, I will put your shoe in the mouth twice:

ā€œAmen, Amen, I say to you, it shall all be fulfilled.ā€

and ā€œIf God could restore the Jews from an intermediate apostasy in the OLD testament covenant, how could God not do it in the New, for such would imply the New was worse, relative to the people involved, than the Old!ā€

But if the Gentiles CAN be restored to love of God after an intermediate fall, what shall it be except the sabbath-like rest from the sin of history, even as God rested on the seventh day! That is your millennium. For the Resurrection only comes after the eighth darkness, and this is only the seventh darkness in world history currently.

Augustinians are too pessimistic. Salvation history is not a gray sky from beginning to finish. The sun sets, the sun rises repeatedly. If you are correct, one of the following days does not exist:

the sixth, the seventh, or the eighth. In music, as in the week, the sixth, seventh and eighth notes [days] are all distinct. In Augustinianism, two of these must be fused to make one day [note].
