It seems fairly elementary. All they want is a change that would allow for the Australian government to recognize the Islamic divorce in accordance with current civil law.

This would be like the Australian government not recognizing a marriage because it was done in a Catholic way.

It’s silly and I agree, it should be changed.
 
This is silly fear-mongering. Islamic law has been used in the USA and the UK for decades without the sky collapsing, both countries having legal systems which have strong influence from Sharia going back centuries (and that goes for Australia too).
