Simple question (mostly)…

Some protestants (not directed at all) think that they have been given authority as a believer in Christ…

One on here has even directly said that “I have been given authority as a believer in Christ”…

But I am curious…

to those that simply being a Christian gives you authority… Then what are you authorized to do…

If it is to interpret scripture… then who do I look to when two people claim to have authority, but are at opposite ends (ie one says ABC is good, another says it is bad)

Are you authorized to be a pastor?

Are you authorized to be an elder?

Does God anoint you to be these things?

I know we are as Christians a new Priesthood… but this is more talking about when you, as a laity, go before a nonbeliever and spread the good news…

But do you, as a laity, have the same authority as your pastor?

Basically, this whole thing boils down to what Authority do you have to do, and who ordained you…

In Christ
