Hi all! I was raised Pentecostal you know, hell fire n brim stone. My 21 year old is VERY autistic and knows nothing about the religious realm. But insists on wearing rosary around neck? My question is, being non catholic myself, & not knowing a whole lot, although ive been researching!
Can the rosary bring anything spiritual into the house without us knowing?

Let; but perhaps one that has not been Blessed unless it’s one of the plastic ones you can usually find on the rear of church.

And if unblessed; NO

I would say however, that if wearing the Rosary brings a sense of peace, calm, or whatever to your child, don’t take it away. There is no harm in what he/she is doing.
The other posters are correct about the efficacy of the rosary. Then again, it is associated with the mother of Jesus Christ. We Catholics believe she cares and shares her love for all of us. Maybe she has something in mind for our child that none of us can be aware of. Others might disagree with me, but then I am a “Let God be God” Catholic. I am open to possibilities. You and your child might want to be also?

God bless both of you.

I would venture to say as a Pentecostal you’re going to be up against some scrutiny within your church.

I would pray for God to open the hearts and minds of those within your church. You both need God’s good graces and be open for him to lead you.

I was raised in the Pentecostal church and have an autistic child as well. Fantastic job mom! You have the hardest job in the world. Don’t forget that we can learn from our sons as well.

God bless.

Yes, the rosary can bring a blessing into your house if you use it devoutly. There is a partial indulgence for wearing the rosary.

Surely indulgences involve Confession and Holy Communion? The OP has stated that she is not Catholic.

They do, yes. There is no definitely established means of grace via the rosary for non-Catholics. That does not mean that grace cannot be granted.

In this case I think we should trust in the mercy of God. We see the outside, God sees the interior of the heart. This could be the first step toward a conversion.

Its definitely a positive thing your child can benefit from: Remember this;
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

God has his own way of communicating with us, that at times seem like a mystery but doest mean it will harm us.

May God bless you and your family.

I’ve never heard of a rosary being associated with evil spirits, but, if you are concerned about the rosary bringing something spiritually evil into your home, I suggest you take it to a Catholic priest and ask him to bless it. It would take less than a minute. Typically, the priest will bless it by saying, “May this rosary and the one who uses it be blessed, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.” The typical response to the priest’s blessing is simply, “Amen.”

I would think that a rosary would be one of the last things evil spirits would want brought into a house, as it reminds us and would be a constant reminder to them that Jesus Christ is our Lord.

If anything, it’s a good thing to wear the rosary. The rosary is one of the most powerful prayers.

I’m sorry, but where does the OP suggest an association of the rosary with evil spirits? ❓❓❓

The OP asked, “Can the rosary bring anything spiritual into the house without us knowing?” The word “anything” could refer to good spiritual things or benefits but it could also refer to evil spiritual things or disadvantages. Since other posters had already addressed some of the spiritual benefits associated with the rosary, I thought I would address the question of possible spiritual disadvantages or possible evil spiritual things associated with the rosary. My response was, “I’ve never heard of a rosary being associated with evil spirits, but, if you are concerned about the rosary bringing something spiritually evil into your home, I suggest you take it to a Catholic priest and ask him to bless it.” If I misunderstood the OP’s question, I apologize.

Despite what anyone says there is nothing wrong with wearing one. People have been doing it since the middle ages. Not everybody was rich enough to have pockets or a bible. It is more a cultural thing than a rule. And well people say it doesn’t do anything simply wearing it… are wrong…

Depends on if it is associated sacramental graces, superstition, reverence, fashion, or utility.

I lost a relic rosary because I put it in my pocket… zoo

Whatever.

Don’t wear one to the club unless you are a Goth… or understand the new romantic movement.

Cause no one likes to cause scandal like those guys on Jersey shore.

Also if you are in a poorer area it is unfortunately associated with gangs. But that is not because they don’t believe in God. In certain institutions or correctional facilities they are supposed to let you have one… but they are very very rarely actually allowed… as for the system, maybe they are actually more afraid the rosary really works more than they are afraid of any gang symbolism.

Since your son is autistic, I’d leave things as they are. If he wants to wear the Rosary, let him.

As for spiritual benefits, who knows? For one thing, it’s got YOU doing some research into the Rosary, which you almost certainly would not have done had your autistic son not been wearing a set of Rosary beads.

God works in strange ways sometimes. If I were you, I’d just let things be, and as you get the time, read up on the Rosary, and for that matter, Marianism (ie. all things related to Mary, the mother of Christ, and therefore the Mother of God ).

God might be using that Rosary to get YOUR attention, for all you know.
