Please tell me you’re joking. However, based upon your posting history you’re probably not & and are looking for a fight. So far this has remained a nice thread about online dating and honest but coherent personal stories. If you (or anyone else) turns this into a thread about how no girl/guy will date you and its all the internet’s fault…I will report you and encourage others to do the same. Lets keep this civilized.
I’ve had disagreements with him in the past on the topic of dating, but in his defense, I think he’s sincere, and not trolling.

Because it’s gross!!! No 45-year-old man should be looking for a young (20ish) wife. That’s too big of an age difference. He’s old enough to be her father!!! I just don’t think there should be that big of an age difference – especially the younger one side is. My personal age range is 10 years – and that’s older. I don’t want someone 10 years younger than me.
He’s kidding, right?

I’m not joking.

Are you people implying it’s wrong for people in their 40s to want to establish families and have their own children? Please tell me there is a misunderstanding in the circuits here or something.

I was on a few Christian singles sites and Christian cafe was the worst it felt like pedophile playground to me because there were men in their 40’s and 50’s contacting me and a lot of the messages left me feeling very gross to the say the least. I canceled my membership after two weeks of that.

I believe you’ve missed the point.

The original comment was, IMHO, a commentary on the *hypocrisy *of some members of these dating sites. These particular gentlemen-- older and perhaps not such great catches themselves (i.e. reference to “living in mom’s basement”)-- are quick to **snub **women as unworthy because they are older (although likely still of childbearing age). There are some who give men a bad name by wanting a young, beautiful, baby machine of a wife while *failing *to recognize how shallow that is in the face of their own age and faults. Not to mention creepy. A 20-25 year old being pursued by a 45 year old-- indeed old enough to be her father-- can be off-putting.

There is nothing wrong with a man in his 40s wanting children. But he does not have to have a 20 year old wife to do so. There are plenty of lovely, smart, devout women in their 30s who would make wonderful wives. The point was that these men basically act like women in their 30s are not worth their attentions.

Agreed, there are plenty in their thirties that are devout and would make a good wife (like the person I was dating that ended up going into a religious community) , but unless I read the post wrong, it did not mention age, just “young”, which does not necessarily mean 20s - it could even mean thirties. The post made it sound like it was criticizing men in their 40s for wanting to start a family in the first place - after all, one still needs to be in childbearing age, correct?

lol “young” to me means less than 25. As far as maturity and dating go 30’s is older. Unlike young people those in their 30’s have a better chance of moving quickly because they are more developed as a person.

I was 23 when I joined AMS. I purposfully set my profile to -3 and +5…which I think is acceptiable. Everyone else needed “permission”. I had several times when I was contacted by 39-48yo’s asking to chat with me. Since my parents were both 25 when I was born that made it super creepy.

And many times these men were less than financially stable, yet desired 8+ kids, a homeschooling SAH wife, et all. They lived outside of reality. And they cronically persued only those 10 to 20 years their junior. My friend who is 50 and female had a 56yo tell her she was too old for what he was looking for.

I’m a 35 y/o man, I think the youngest woman I’ve contacted on CM in recent years was 27, and the last woman I dated was slightly older than I. Come to think of it, I think half of the women I’ve dated have been 1-4 years older.

Anyway, I’d rather date women close to my age because they are a lot easier for me to relate to.
