Average Age/ Gender/ Country of Birth of Catholic Answers Audience

Yeah, yours has animals in the background profile pick, implies 80-90 percent chance you are a woman. Look at all the people who answered woman, they all have animal pics. Also, sneezing seems more like a female than male name. See! I bet I could predict 80-90 percent of time gender based on the profile circle and username alone!

I am taking a biased survey (for fun). I find the demographics interesting.

Are most posters aged:
Less than 18
18-30
30-45
45-65
65 and above

I would say more younger than older.

Are there more men or more women? Or is it just more women in the causal discussion section, where this thread got moved to?

Are there more from the USA (my intuition says definitely yes).

Your thoughts on all this?

Oh, I don’t disagree that mine is predictable. My picture is a mother opossum, and profile description adds further clues, but I often guess wrong about others. I’ve atleast once been called Mr. Sneeze.

I don’t have any thoughts except that most of us “get to know each other” by interacting on the forums and get a sense of a person’s age, background etc from their posts.

I’m not sure how, if you’re 24, you can’t tell who might be 10 years older or 10 years younger than you from their posts.
 
(1) Because I don’t read individual users threads or usernames that closely (I have asked a few random people for advice though), but only respond to messages directed at me (I do read in full the threads that I create)

(2) Because I’ve only been on here a month or so (and I might soon exit Catholic Answers Forums forever),

(3) and because I was attempting to take a “poll” (individual users being less important, averages being more important), so it would have been better if I could have used a vote feature to see percentages.

But if I was interested in individual users and not general demographics, you would have been unable to guess whether I was a man or woman, 25 or 40 years old, USA or from another country, if I didn’t say so, would you?

Umm… not all people who answered woman have an animal pic…my profile pic is of one of the rashguards I wear when I train bjj and muay thai… and yet, I’m female.
