I’ve abandoned Facebook, but anyway…I have no desire to join one of the evangelical religions. That’s where I came from. Of course, Catholicism is supposed to be evangelical in a different way, we’ve got to spread the message! But yes, avoid the counterfeit religions.

That’s what my page is about. Yes, Catholics are born again but in the way Christ intended. We are also evangelical. I use the term ‘evangelical’ since that is the politically correct way of describing churches like the Assemblies of God. You should learn the terrible, false things they believe about the RCC. Some of the websites literally break my heart.

We are a born again religion, are we not? 😃
As Roman Catholic Christians we are born again at our baptism . We are born of water and spirit as Christ tells Nicodemos in John Chapter 3 .So you can say that we are born again as Catholics .

OP, I am sure you are sincere and trying to lead people to Truth. However, I think your particular methods (particularly the name of your FB page) might be counterproductive, because it comes across as bashing of other faiths. If I were seeking the truth about God, I would be much more drawn to a page called “Discover the Truth of Catholicism” than I would be to “Avoid Born Again Religions”. Think about it in reverse: if you saw a page called “Avoid the false Catholic religion”, it would probably offend you. However, a page entitled “Baptist truths”, not as much… Do you see what I mean?

OP, after reading some of your other posts on various threads, I think that many of us Catholics have more in common with evangelicals (as far as morality goes) than with you - I see where you have posted opposition to the Church’s teachings on abortion, homosexual acts, and contraception. How can you bash other churches when you don’t even agree 100% with the one you belong to?

I disagree with our church’s teachings on contraception and gay marriage. I’ve never hidden that fact from anyone. I believe the church will one day change its teachings regarding these two issues. I do agree with the church’s teachings on abortion; however, I do not feel that the government should codify it into a ban on abortion. I pray for the day when every mother and father will want their child; I’m against government interference in what I believe is between the family and God.

There are many differences between our church and other religions which are far more important than contraception, abortion and gay marriage. Don’t you find it interesting that Jesus never mentioned one of these issues? Other than homosexuality, neither the OT nor the NT even mentions contraception or abortion. “Be fruitful and multiply” might possibly include these issues; however, we have been fuitful and multiplied to the tune of 7 billion people. I see nothing that says: Be fruitful and multiply ad infinitum. “Love your neighbor” certainly includes our unborn neighbor, but has nothing to do with contraception.

Our church is the only true church of Jesus Christ on Earth because of: 1. The Eucharist and the other sacraments; 2. The role of Our Blessed Mother in salvation; 3. The primacy of Peter and the Holy Father; 4. The Divine Mercy of Jesus; and countless other reasons which I could not ever find enough time to list.

Abortion, contraception and homosexuality are not the main issues of Catholicism. If you think they are, then perhaps you should join the Assemblies of God.

**If **you believe that the Catholic Church is the one and only true church of Jesus Christ and **if **she teaches, and has taught for milenia, the immorality of contraception, homosexual relations and abortion, how do you justify the position below?

It honestly was not my attempt to derail this thread. My point was, if your aim is to lead people to the One True Church, first, it is probably best to adopt a positive point of view (Discovering the Truth of Catholicism) rather than a negative one (Avoid Born Again Religions). Second, how can you convince others that the Church has the keys to the kingdom and is the inerrant interpreter of God’s law, when you believe the err on several accounts? How can you say, I believe the Catholic Church was founded by Jesus and holds the Truth, guided by the Holy Spirit, but I know better than the Church on these few issues? How convincing can that be to someone who you are trying to bring in from another faith?

Yes , there is something seriously wrong here.I won’t be clicking “like” on your face book page.

Jharek, yes, provide the anti-abortion scriptures so everyone here can see them. I know I want to see them.

However, I agree with the church’s position on abortion. I just don’t want the government banning it. Pro-choice is not pro-abortion. It simply means that I don’t want the government making decisions that are between the family and God alone. I never said I disagreed with the church’s teachings on abortion.

What I said is that abortion, homosexuality and contraception are not the foundation of the RCC and are not the main focus of Catholicism.

I am a catholic not because of its teachings on social behavior. I’m a catholic for the 4 reasons I gave in previous posts.

Sounds like you want to turn the RCC into the Assemblies of God, some kind of political force in the world. God forbid that should ever happen. Joining the church with the government would create another “den of thieves.”

Peter, if I lived during the Renaissance I might have opposed the church’s teaching that the earth is the center of the solar system. No church is correct on every single issue because men make mistakes. When the Pope speaks ex cathedra, it is the Holy Spirit speaking. But outside of that, the church can and has erred in the past. Was it the Holy Spirit that told the church to burn Jews at the stake if they refused to convert to Catholicism? I don’t expect my church to be perfect. But I expect it to demonstrate what Jesus taught us by His words and actions: Love God with your whole heart, mind, soul and spirit, and Love your neighbor as yourself. In my opinion, no church follows these commandments as well as the RCC.

Mini, I’m not trying to convert anyone to Catholicism. I believe that the Holy Spirit will draw who He wills into the RCC. When anyone asks me about the RCC, I tell them what I have said here: it is my belief that it is the one true church of Jesus Christ, that it holds the most complete revelation from God to mankind. I tell them that Christ is indeed present on the altar, that His and Paul’s words regarding the eating and drinking of His body and blood were not metaphors; I tell them of Our Blessed Mother, who remained a Virgin forever and was assumed body and soul into Heaven. I tell them of the authority Christ gave to the priesthood to absolve from sins, I tell them they are born again by baptism, not by saying some sinner’s prayer invented by Jimmy Swaggaart. If they ask, I also tell them that I disagaree with its positions on gay marriage and contrraception, but that I believe the church will one day reverse its positions on these subjects. My Facebook page is not to draw anyone to any church. My page is to make it clear that I believe these religions are evil and spawned from hell. I truly believe that. It’s just my opinion. If you do not agree, then by all means do not press the like button. I did not create the page to be liked by anyone. I created it to warn people.

Avoid born again Christians?! We should all be born again coz Jesus says any one that is not born again will not see the Kingdom of God. So if ur not born again, u wont go to Heaven.
John 3:3 - “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”. Born again Christians are the only true Christians according to the Bible, so we should all contemplate about being born again.
And your group on facebook saying “avoid born again Christians”, isnt that just againts the Bible? I hope you will delete that group. I’ll pray for you my brother/sister that you will open up the Book and read what it says.

Jharek, please do not put words into my moutn. I have never defended abortion in any of my posts. I have made it very clear that I accept the church’s teaching regarding the immorality of abortion.

Corky, contraception is not an issue that has been declared immoral for millenia. But if you have any ancient documents proving that abortion has been the subject of discussion for millenia, then please give me a web link so I can read them.

As for homosexuality, I believe that NT scripture which speaks of this subject refers to heterosexuals engaging in homosexual behavior. A true homosexual is mentally, spiritually, emotionally and (for men) physically unable to mate with a member of the opposite sex. God has permitted nature to create these people; they are not the norm, but they are a part of God’s creation. They are not possessed with evil spirits, they are not evil, degenerate, perverts who choose same-sex relationships for the reasons Paul enumerated when he spoke of the pagans (Romans and Greeks) who God abandoned to their lusts. They simply are not capabale of being heterosexual. Are you capable of becoming homosexual? Do you have that choice? Could you turn yourself into a homosexual if you had any reason to do so? Of course not. And they cannot turn themselves into heterosexuals. Period. Many heterosexuals do engage in homosexual behavior, some for money, some for drugs, some because they are so lonely that they just want someone to love them. But these are not true homosexuals. The true homosexual can never be hetero sexual, at least not by any means known to man. God, of course, can change anyone into anything, but He has chosen not to do this on any kind of mass level. “Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me.” The hatred of homosexuals will prove to be a real stumbling block to many socalled Christians.
