There are many differences between our church and other religions which are far more important than contraception, abortion and gay marriage. Don’t you find it interesting that Jesus never mentioned one of these issues? Other than homosexuality, neither the OT nor the NT even mentions contraception or abortion..
How about the Fifth Commandment: You shall not kill. The Catholic Church has always taught that the direct killing of an unborn child is a grave violation of the rights of God because human life is sacred.
The Catechism on Abortion
2270 Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception.
From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person - among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.71
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.72
My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately wrought in the depths of the earth.73
2271 Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion.
This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable.
Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:
You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish.74
God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves.
Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.75
Jesus DID mention these issues. In Matthew 19:18, Jesus said that you shall not murder, and in Rev. 22:15 it says that outside of heaven are “dogs, and sorcerers, and unchaste, and murderers, and servers of idols, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie.” And there are other Scripture verses.
Abortion, contraception and homosexuality are not the main issues of Catholicism. If you think they are, then perhaps you should join the Assemblies of God.
The Catholic Church is about proclaiming Christ’s Gospel, the message of life; however, you seem to spend an inordinate amount of your posts muddying the waters regarding abortion, contraception, and homosexual activism.
