I understand that acording to Catechism Sin creates a proclivity to sin. As an eight year old boy my parents decided to divorce, I had many chances(my whole life) to try to get them to do the right thing, and request a Tribunal. I did not. I finally gave up and moved on with my life found my wife and we were trying to move forward with our lives and I believe that their inequities played a huge part in my wife abandoning me. I guess that my question is at what point do we get to stop “honoring” our Father and Mother of earth and start to honor The heavenly father and Holy Queen, and our selves, our wives and how do we go about doing so. I ask this because their addictions as I call them, now I realize that they are sins being proclaved bytsin, have destroyed my chance at a saintly life with my wife. I believe that I have been forsaken God’s will for me by these actions, and I find it very hard to continue to pray for these people and their souls, for what I have been through.

You never stop honoring your mother and father, but they do take a back seat when you become an adult and especially when you get married. “Wherefore a man shall leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be two in one flesh.” Gen 2:24

You said your wife has abandoned you; is there any hope of reconcile? Sometimes just getting down on your knees and begging forgiveness (from your wife directly and from God through Confession) works wonders. A great book to read on the nature of love is Three to Get Married by J. Fulton Sheen, Archbishop.

The thing about God’s will is that He knew what was going to happen from the moment He said “Let there be light.” So you are never to far gone to come home to Him. He knows where you are, and He knows your pain and suffering. He will be there for you; you have only to ask.

Understand too, that the primary purpose of praying for people’s soul is not for the person, but for God. He desires that all be saved, so when you pray for someone’s soul, you should first pray for God’s benefit. The benefit to the other person is secondary. If you find it difficult to pray for your parents for their benefit, pray for them for God’s benefit and for yours. When we pray for our enemies, our blessings tend to flow. 👍

You are in my prayers.
