I think you should consider what St Teresa of Avila wrote. She was in a situation where the priest was having an affair with a woman. Apparently everybody knew about it. (Where was the bishop?) Jesus appeared to Saint Teresa and said that his love for her was so great that he allowed himself to be handled by this enemy of his (That is what you are when you are in the state of mortal sin)
I ask you to remember who it is when we receive Holy Communion.

Times are a changing and for the greater good. We can’t change the Church’s past but only make amends and improvements. I wish this was same for other institutions though.

The best way to deal with this?

Understand it. Satan infiltrated the clergy and put in thousands of false priests who hate God and His Church. He elevated some of these false priests to the level of Bishop, which led to cover-ups and even further abuse.

Rest assured that every one of these monsters will recieve their due reward. It would be better for them to be cast into the sea with a millstone around their neck. Incidentally, that is the punishment the secular governments should be giving them.

Yes, in my parish there are EMHC which allows me to—after the Eucharist is consecrated by the priest—receive it from them. I am very grateful for that in my current state of mind.

Thank you for your reply. 🌷

It is incredibly distressing.

Please refrain from trying to frame it in a funny or light hearted manner.

Children and vulnerable people were broken, completely broken.

I would also make this suggestion. Try to remember that there are some priests who are every bit as horrified, disgusted, and betrayed as you are. Pray for them as much as you can, and if possible, try to find one and join his parish.

It’s very normal, your response. Your feelings, repulsion, angst, all normal.
My clergy run a really tight ship and address this in Mass.

Last week, or was it the week before, or maybe the one before that, probably in every Homily.

My Vicar general began with…’.its been a very difficult week for everyone’

We discuss it, we don’t deny what happened, we say yes, this happened, yes this is grievous.

Parishioners talk of particular offending clergy who went out of their way to do good things, or how their spiritual advisor is currently serving extended terms at Her Maj’s pleasure.

Well for a start, 7% is the accussed rate and not the rate of proven or even likely rate. Do a little research on cliff richard if you want to know why that’s important.

Don’t pretend it isn’t a problem in the BBC, Hollywood and politics. Power corrupts… that doesn’t excuse the Church but i noticed how the BBC lost it’s moral high ground when the Jimmy Saville story broke.

I would like some accountability of the Bishops. They are responsible. What did the Bishops say? Those responsible? Because they have to answer for, publicly.

I don’t blame the priests. But the Bishops?! Where were they?

I have met righteous men in my life, I have met men that would die before being silenced about this. What did the Bishops do?
Well first of all my current Bishop has nothing to do with those times. He just gets to clean up everyone’s mess and try to pick up the pieces.

There is a Bishop in SA currently being brought before the courts for moving paedophiles around the Diocese. I see this as a test case. It’s outcome will determine a future path. And write protocol.
Many responsible are now dead, though.

Blame anyone responsible and everyone. Including police who ignored reports.

But don’t blame the clergy of today.

This is the self disclosed rate by the Catholic Church in Australia. Please do not try to diminish the percentage or the amount. As described in the article and by the Catholic Church here, the percentage is most likely a lot higher. Not everyone came forward.

Also, this isn’t the “accused” amount. This is the reported amount.

Ask him what he would have done back in the day. [Not today, but back then. Because many Bishops took great sacrifices in name of the truth. I expect nothing less from any of them.]
Stay tuned in 2018 to hear what a certain Cardinal did to route this evil out. But that’s a story for another time. He did wonderful things.

I have met man unable to read or write, that weren’t Bishops or Saints, and no one would have stopped them or shut them up.
My Bishop is still a living Saint. He reads Latin by car boot light in the middle of nowhere!

Accountability, means:“to answer for”!

In the future, any and all have “to answer for”!

Blame is not the issue here, the future can only be accountability.

And we, the layman, have to demand a culture of “Accountability”.

when I think of pedophiles becoming Priests because because to them it is firtile ground…I feel so bad for you folks in Australia…My heart goes out to you. You will be in my prayers.

Ok are you saying we should make innocent clergy and laity responsible for those crimes too? That would mean you and I, as parishioners, as laity, remember that 7% includes laity , accountable too.

I am not sure what you mean?
