would it be giving rise to scandal if me and my baby lived with either baby’s paternal grandpa or baby’s paternal aunt and her husband? in both cases i would be living in same place with a man. is this for any reason not allowed?

Is there a reason you are not living with your husband that is legit?

It is no scandal to live in the same house with a married couple. If the grandfather is a single man, that could be problematic. The whole situation of living with the boyfriend’s family is problematic. You said that he is not suitable for marriage, but living with his family would tie you closer to him. For the sake of both your baby and yourself, you should be seeking a Christian environment.

There is no scandal in living with male family members or in-laws. Particularly not grandfathers and married couples who are aunts/uncles.

I am not sure why you think either of these situation would give scandal. Maybe you should talk to your pastor about what scandal actually involves, and if you tend towards scrupulosity please talk to him about this.

grandpa lives on his own. i don’t want to be dependent / wrapped up in boyfriend. my idea was i would stay with his family until i found my own place… my mom is christian but lives in nyc (terrible place for me, let alone my baby) and i dont have much opportunity for getting on my own feet in ny.

I don’t see any problem with this at all. There is a generation gap between you and the grandfather, and with the aunt and uncle you would be living with a married couple, not a single man. In either case, I think most people would assume that you are just getting help with the baby from relatives, rather than assuming that something illegitimate is going on, so I don’t see where there would be any appearance of sin. I think it is great that the dad’s family is willing to help you out, and I am sorry to hear that the dad apparently is not in the picture.
