Will we have consciousness in Heaven? If so, won’t we feel bad about the people in Hell?

No, we will be happy they are not in heaven, since they did not want or chose not to be there anyway.

In Heaven, we will have acquired an understanding of God’s justice and mercy such that we would not see souls in Hell or even individuals suffering on earth as sorrowful. We surely wouldn’t be made happy by them, but they undoubtedly would not make us sad either.

In the sixth chapter of book of Revelation, there is a passage in which souls under the altar of God are crying out for justice on earth. I think that those who are in heaven are indeed aware, however now they see clearly, whereas we see with limited understanding. See I Corinthians chapter 13. This is why we pray to the saints. They have the ear of God because they are now purified and in heaven with Him. St James reminds us that the prayer of a righteous man has great power–the saints are righteous.

As to whether or not they are sad about those not in heaven, my take on that question is that the people in heaven don’t remember those who end up in hell. Isaiah 26:14 states that God removes even the memory of the wicked.

Any Bible scholars out there who can shed light on this? :hmmm:

I haven’t read it myself, but I heard The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis speaks about how people in Heaven feel about people on Earth (so I presume about people in Hell too).

I would give it a gander.

We will be happy that God’s justice is done regarding those in Hell.

We will even be happy if those people were our relatives, etc. on earth.

The reason we might find this hard to comprehend now is that we do not love God enough and we love other people in a way separated from God rather than through Him and for His sake.

We can only speculate and imagine with our fallen minds what our existence will be like in Heaven where we will be glorified and be in perfect communion with the Trinity. Will we even have a concept of feeling bad when we are immersed in total good? It’s truly impossible for us to wrap our minds around what it will be like.
