I have learned and continue to learn much about Catholicism and am thankful to have CAF as a great resource. I hadn’t realized how much you guys had rubbed off on me until yesterday - when I found myself gently correcting one of my fellow Lutheran parishioners on his misperceptions about Catholic belief on statues, rituals, etc. He then complained that “most Catholics just go through the motions” and I pointed out the fact that all churches have members who practice “cultural Christianity” - and we have to separate church doctrine and individual practice…

The huge irony was that he was baptized and raised in the Catholic church.

I pray that he finds the peace that he is looking for.

My wife (Baptist) and I (raised Pentecostal, father & grand father are pastors) found CAF to be a huge help with our conversion. It took a lot of time, but the holy spirit continued guiding us along with CAF and we came into the church in 2010. It is a true God send community and I love the diversity and how every is very open and welcome to whom ever comes along.

That’s great! 👍 I’m glad CAF rubbed off on you in a good way. 😛

Good job. I had a similar experience with my niece. She, as a practising Lutheran, was told that Catholics worship Mary, which is why they have statues of her. It happened to be Chrsitmass and I could not help admiring their beautiful Nativity scene under the tree - little statues of Joseph, Mary and the baby Jesus etc…Irony…I asked her to show me where the catholic church taught such silliness, and weeks later she conceded that she could not. Disinformation/misinformation, sadly, can be so damaging and influential…🤷

Yes it can, the statues seem to make them uncomfortable, but when their willing to listen and they let you show that even God wants statues your able to get somewhere.

To the op, hey keep it up and keep learning about the church. Let the Holy Spirit guide you.
