Please pray for B. I’ve never met him, but he went to high school with my father and is an alcoholic and possibly still a drug addict. It looks like he’s never had a serious job before.

Dear Lord Jesus, all forms of addiction ruins so many lives and addiction to alcohol can cause such devastation in the lives of individuals and their relationships with the family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues. Dear Lord we lift up to You all those that have become addicted to alcohol, which Satan so often uses as a tool to damage and destroy the lives of so many people.
Lord we a pray for all who have been afflicted with this terrible disease - that they would be released from the ruinous way that it affects so many and be set free of this addiction. Lord we know that there is no freedom except in You and for those that are Your children we pray that in You mercy You would meet each of Your children at their point of need - and in the power of the Spirit living within, I pray that they may break free of this destructive addiction.
And Lord for those that are not believers – we ask that in Your grace You would convict them of their damaging behaviour, both in their own bodies and in the lives of those that they know and love, and turn them away from alcohol addiction to a right relationship with the Lord Jesus – in Whose name I pray, Amen.

I personally knew more than a person with alchool problems. It’s a very common problems in my region ( Veneto ), often severely understimated. I sincerely hope the best for that man.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

God, our loving Father, you sent your Son,
Jesus Christ, into this world to counter
all the forces of evil: sin, suffering and death,
and to overcome evil with the force of good;
hatred with the power of love,
your great love for us in Jesus.
Help us never to curse the darkness,
but to join with you in bringing
Your light into this world,
the light that is your Son,
born of the Virgin Mary, in Bethlehem.
Help us to be instruments of your light
and love by doing one special act of kindness
or by being your special instrument
of reconciliation this New Year.
May the Christ Candle we light symbolize
our desire to bring light into a world of darkness
and hope into a world of despair.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

*O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, who brought forth the Son of God still remaining a Virgin, assist us in this necessity. O Star of the Sea, help us, and show us that you are our Mother.
O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and earth, we humbly ask you from the depths of our heart to help us in this necessity. There are none who can withstand your power. O show us that you are our Mother.
** O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
Sweet Mother, we place this cause in your hands. Amen*
