I think that’s a great opportunity for him to educate the parish on the chaldean church. Perhaps he will stay sometime after the last mass and give a little presentation?
Nah, most people won’t care. The Chaldean mission uses a Latin Rite parish and I think people in that parish don’t even know that there is such a thing as an Eastern Rite Church called the Chaldean Catholic Church. Most people just think its an ethnic Mass, similar to the Polish Mass scheduled 2 hours before the Holy Qurbana.

That is why I was advised not to do anything about the matter I spoke of. Because what’s the use of trying to catechize people who doesn’t want to be catechized about the Eastern Churches?

Are people coming into the Roman Catholic Church or coming of age (i.e., being prepared for confirmation) in the Roman Catholic Church not catechized about the Eastern Catholic Churches? That seems to be a pretty significant chunk of history and information on Church structure to omit.

No they are not, unfortunately. As a lifelong Roman Catholic before going East last year, I’ve never heard of Eastern Catholic Churches until 2 years ago. You’ll be surprised that many RCs, even the clergy, are largely unaware of the Eastern Rites.

Inclined to agree with Hesychios except for one thing

Kievan Church ???

Some mistake surely - Kyivan Church 🙂
Kievan is the traditional English verb for “from or originating in Kiev”, and Kiev is the traditional English transliteration of the name of that city.

That’s because it’s transliterated from Russian, not Ukrainian. The transliteration from Ukrainian is Kyiv. (It’s a Peking/Beijing kind of thing). 😉
