Not sure if this is the best place to ask this type of question…
I don’t claim to be an expert on Ratzinger’s teachings of faith and reason, but I did read his Regensburg speech. I thought it was excellent. However, I’ve thought a few times since then about times when following God’s plan seems unreasonable. Perhaps the best example is when God called Abraham to offer his son Isaac. Obviously God didn’t require Abraham to follow through with it, but it seems Abraham would have been justified to respond to God’s initial call with something like, “Now I know you’re crazy, God. Heck no, I’m not killing my son.” Perhaps Ratzinger talks about these things somewhere? Can anyone offer me some guidance here? Pointing me to a book or some other resource would be great.
Thanks,
Ben Anderson

Abraham was willing to sacrifice his only son for God. It demonstrates his great faith, for which he was blessed greatly. God didn’t require a human sacrifice, he required Abraham’s obedience.
