I recently read half of a biography on Ruth. I wish I would have finished it, although I may go back. I didn’t get tot the part where he was sick. It was interesting to see the close relationship he had with the religious brothers where he went to school for so many months of the year. One brother who was a big man, taught him how to play the game. There were so many kids, and so many that loved baseball, at that Catholic boarding school that they fielded well over 20 baseball teams.

The Babe stood 6’2".

I’ve always been impressed with Babe, even though he wandered a good bit. It seems as though he had a good heart. And I never knew about his last years! Thank you for sharing this.

I always thought he was Jewish. Glad to learn he was a Catholic. May the Lord have mercy on his soul.
