I think we all have had unpleasant encounters with pro choicers, but for me this one takes the cake. I was having a discussion with friends about politics and social policy, this eventually led to abortion. Now babies are on the same level as a tape worm and a woman should be able to purge the “parasite” from her body!!! I’m sorry if the title of this upset anybody, but I felt a need to post this and see what others think. also, any scientific facts you could give me regarding the pro life stance would be more than apprecited.

Some members of my family like to watch the TV show “House”.
Babies have often been called parasites by the show’s star.

Terrorists and criminals are not the only contributors of evil in this world.

Unfortunately in this culture of death we live in pregnancy has been unofficially labeled an STD. The sad reality is you cant sway a person that doesn’t care about the value of life by using pro-life arguments. The only thing you can do for those people is pray that they become open to Gods love and grace and change their position.

Obviously, if a woman feels that she has been invaded by a parasite, she should learn some self respect and learn to look after her body a whole lot better.

Anyway, babies and mothers have a symbiotic relationship. The criteria for regarding a baby as a parasite are not met.

I totally agree with you here. However, I have to ask how is pregnancy healthful for the mother? A symbiotic relationship means a mutually-beneficial arrangement. As far as I know, pregnancy doesn’t have a biological plus for the mother, rather, she is giving of herself to care for the child.

Again, I TOTALLY DISAGREE that a baby is a parasite (a parasite has to be a different SPECIES than the host, for one) but if you can give me a link or evidence to back up the symbiotic relationship I would seriously be in your debt. I have several people in my life that call babies “parasites” and they work from a scientific standpoint, so this would really be a valuable tool for me!! 👍

Actually for a pro-abortionist to call a baby a “parasite” is welcome and a big step forward from the usual anti-scientific, insulting to the intelligence pro-abortionist lies such as that the baby is merely “part of his mother’s body”, or “a blob of tissue” or “a bunch of cells”.

By calling the baby a parasite they admit that he is a separate individual organism, not part of his mother, with his own life, respiration and growth. A baby is indeed a parasite in that he gets his physical needs - nutrition, warmth, growth and water - from his mother without giving her any physical benefit in return (if he did it would be a symbiotic relationship). The only reason “parasite” is technically incorrect is, as mentioned, that a parasite has to be a different species. But the proabortionists would find it very hard to argue that an organism which is the product of a human father and a human mother is not himself of the human species.

I’ve been studying a book written by Peter Kreeft called Making Choices ( practical wisdom for everyday moral decisions. His chapter on abortion is called “The Most Critical Moral Issue Of Our Time”. (Chapter 8) I highly reccommend that you obtain a copy of this book and study it too. We are not fighting against the poor duped people who try to uphold their “right” to destroy new life, we are fighting against the evil forces that have enslaved them. We can win the war, no matter how many battles we seem to lose. In order to make headway with someone who is operating under false delusions, we must use truth and reason with love and patience. Both sides of this argument must be willing to seek truth more than victory in all honesty. The author describes honesty as a moral virtue, a matter of the will. Honesty means willing the truth with the whole of your heart. We can convert someone by rational persuasion, intellectual conversion. One side of the argument must be true (life begins at conception) and one side must be horribly wrong (abortion is murder). Prayer, sacrifice, love and patience, then persuasion and logic. Particularly, pray for these misguided souls to find God’s mercy before they find the truth of what they have been so vigorously defending and /or participating in. Without knowing His mercy, they will be utterly crushed under the weight of their sins.
