God led man to invent duct tape for a reason. Bring some with you and you can be assured of not missing any part of the Mass. šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜›
:rotfl:
A teacher friend of mine has a sign in her classroom: ā€œSilence is golden but duct tape is silverā€

Everybody here is so kind (and fun!)…Thanks again to everybody for the answers. I’m glad I asked!
Thank you for asking. You gave us all a chance to blantly talk about our kids, like we really have to have our arm twisted for that. 😃

We didn’t even need a ā€œshamelessā€ thread.

I think children - all children - belong at Mass. It’s part of being pro-life. Yes, it’s really hard to concentrate when a baby’s crying. I used to HATE it and complain about it all the time. I feel really bad for that now :o .
How wonderful would it be to have every pew filled with our parish’s children! Yes, they’ll cry. But they’ll grow up to be GREAT Catholics! Many priests and religious come from large families. I think our duty to love and welcome them trumps the crying any day :).

you can plop that crying baby down right next to me and I guarentee you’ll get a smile from me. I’ll be grinning ear to ear because for once it’s not one of MY kids that’s making all the racket!! šŸ˜›

Really though…don’t sweat it. I mean, even if this is your first, you’re going to know the difference between a little fussing and major wailing. Trust your instincts as to when it’s time to leave and know that God–and the rest of us who’ve ever had kids–understands.

Blessings!

I will tell you, I am an old 72 and creaky, but nothing gives me more joy at Mass than to see young parents with their children, including infants. I look at them and think there are the young Catholics who will come after me in this Church and carry forward that which I carried forward for my parents and grandparents. It is very reassuring to feel that our Church has a future. It is inspiring! šŸ™‚
