Baby Amelia still needs prayers

Many of you have prayed for Baby Amelia, born in early April at 25 weeks gestation. She has been quite a fighter, and now, three months later, is much bigger (4 lbs.) and simply beautiful. However, she continues to have serious lung issues, and is still on the ventilator, which is not good long-term for her lungs, eyes, etc.

Please pray that her lungs get stronger so that they can discontinue the vent and she can progress and finally go home.

It’s Baby Amelia’s three month birthday today, a good day to storm heaven for her! Thank you all and God Bless.

Dear Lord, we bring before You our hope for Amelia’s speedy recovery. We ask that You continue to strengthen her body and family. Thank You for blessing her with life, and we pray that she will come to know You through Your Church. We ask this in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Lord, thank you for caring for baby Amelia. Please help her now with her lungs so she doesn’t have to suffer any future lung or eye problems. Please heal her and make her strong. Amen.

UPDATE

Little Amelia is now at what would have been full term, and they are going to remove her ventilator tomorrow, trying to wean her to a CPAP machine. They tried before, but she had a setback.

Please pray that tomorrow’s extubation goes well, and that she finally stays off the ventilator, as the danger of lung damage grows greater the longer she is on it.

BTW - her eye exam went well today; she is holding her own in that regard, and the damage to her eyes as a result of her extended stay on the ventilator (since her very premature birth at 25 weeks) has been minimal and possibly reversible.

Prayers will be much appreciated; the extubation takes place at 8 am central time tomorrow (Thursday.) Thank you all!

UPDATE

So far so good! She is off the ventilator, on a “baby CPAP” machine instead, and her blood gases are holding steady at the moment. It’s still early in the day, but she is handling it much better than the last time.

Perhaps, with all the prayers coming her way, this is the day she will finally turn the corner.

Amelia means to strive or to excel…Dear Lord, help this one who has fought so hard to live, the ability to continue to excel in her ability to grow and develop into a loving little girl. Help this family as they walk with her, providing a nuturing home. We ask all these prayers through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
