I wanted to get out of the house with both my kids as soon as possible after they were born as I could. DD is almost 23 months old. I gave birth to her on Friday night, was still in hospital because of her jaundice on Sunday so missed that week, but we were there with bells on the week following. DS is nearly 4 months… he was born Easter Monday. I brought him to church along with his sister when he was less than a week old.
We attend either one of the two churches in our small town. One is walking distance from home, but the further one has mass times that work better with feeding and bedtime schedules.
When we go to the closer church, I like to walk if we have time. Unless we are bringing our elderly neighbour, then we drive. I’ve been with our stroller more than once. I just park it in the corner at the back. This church doesn’t have a crying room or child care so if my parents aren’t going to the same mass to give me a hand (DH isn’t of faith and has only attended mass 4 times in the 8 years we’ve been together), then I bring my
Moby wrap for DS in case DD tries to get away or needs extra attention.
The further church has a crying room but I try to avoid it. One of the moms proclaims herself The Snack Lady and has a diaper bag full of snacks. Sure, great for keeping a kid quiet, but what does it really teach? “hungry at church? sure, bring a Big Mac!” (I don’t mean to offend anyone, I just don’t like my DD grazing on snacks at church.) This church has a little more space for moving around if DD gets antsy. It usually isn’t a problem though if we sit near the grand piano… she

the piano, or if Grandma and Grandpa are at church too.
Congrats on the wee one!
Don’t be afraid to go to church. Jesus was a baby once too.
PS. A tip for keeping a bottle warm at church (formula or pumped breast milk), either tuck it in your bra if there is room or in a carseat/stroller/push chair with your little one. Body temperature is the perfect temperature.
