Baby I've made acquantance with, has just died

I met a little baby a week ago. She was exactly the same age as my foster baby, but less than half his size. She was also rather lethargic. She was about eight pounds, I am told. I understand she needed to be encouraged to eat.

Now, it was her aunt through whom I met her. I remember her asking me whether the mother should wake her at night to feed her. I was shocked to hear she was letting this baby sleep through the night without trying to feed her because she was so small. I told her to tell the mother to wake her up to feed her no less than every four hours whether she acts hungry or not. I thought it odd that she wasn’t eating, and her size shocked me. I told her she should be giving her around 30 ounces, and she was not taking nearly this amount.

Well, Tuesday morning, this little child was found dead in her crib. Of course, her aunt is very upset, and I have not said anything to her. I’m sure the child was not baptized, and this bothers me very much.

Please pray for the soul of little Anya. Has anyone out there known of a similar situation? I am anxious to know what happened with this little one.
 
O Lord, please draw little Anya to Your bosom and comfort her family. May her soul rest in peace. In Jesus name we pray.
 
I have had six babies, all unmedicated vaginal births except the first.That was a vaginal birth with some early medication.

My first baby was born 15 days before the due date and weighed 6lbs 2 oz at birth. Upon leaving the hospital he weighed 5 lbs 13 oz. He did not know how to suckle, nor did he have a suckling instinct as did my other 5 babies. He literally had to be “taught” (over and over again) how to take nourishment. Finally nature took over, and he knew to suckle without constant prodding. I cannot remember how long it took, but at least a week, I would guess.

Years later I found out that the medication that I was given during labor (which also slowed the baby’s heartbeat below safe levels) is known to suppress the suckling instinct! Nobody ever told me anything at the time. My son did need to be awakened during the night to feed, he did not wake on his own. Of course, after the medication stopped affecting him, he ate normally and gained weight as a normal infant does. Before that, he only took nourishment after sustained urging and prodding on my part and it was very difficult. I remember crying in the hospital because, despite my best efforts over a period lasting well over an hour, I could only get 1 oz into the little guy. My roommate’s baby had guzzled 3 1/2 oz in just 20 minutes!

You don’t say how old little Anya was or if there were other problems, at least not that I saw. I am so sad that she only lived a short time… the little angel is definitely in my prayers.

Last year The Holy father Pope Benedict released a document stating the church no longer holds the thought of unbaptised babies giong to Limbo. The document teaches us that because of our Lords’ mercy and the purity of the childs soul they are received in heaven:) This is Easter week and sunday is the feast of Divine Mercy, even our beloved John Paul The Great could not resist heavens call on a week like this.:angel1: I’m sure she is in paradise.

So may the Lord have mercy on this babys’ family and give them wisdom and peace.

How very sad that this child is gone. How sad for the mother who was not instructed on how to deal with this child. She will carry the burden all her life that she had a child who failed to thrive.

My prayers are with the sweet child and her poor parents. Sadly many marriages are lost when a child is lost.

Precious Lord, rock this child to your breast and reach out your hand to provide the parents peace.

I am touched by your kind prayers and thoughts. I do believe that our prayers in time are heard in eternity, and that they are effective even after death. Our intentions for her will be heard. This is how I hope for her, and for all those lost by abortion. Because people are willing to pray for her soul, and on her behalf.

The baby was just over two months, so I don’t think it was medication, although that is very interesting and I will share that, thank you. Her aunt did tell me she spit up quite a bit of her formula. She attributed this to too vigorous pounding on her back afterward, but I wasn’t convinced.

A friend suggested she was allergic to her formula. Yet another good reason to breastfeed.

my mom had a baby brother that spit up everything, back then there was no treatment for his condition. Pyloric stenosis.
(spelling might be wrong)
but he died at 6 mos from starvation.
so sad.
did they do an autopsy?
 
Praying for all affected by this little babe and her death…I am sure little Anya is with The Lord…
