Baby Stella needs our prayers! She’s related to some people here in my town. Here is the note from her grandmother:

*My friends and family,
I want to share some very sad news with all of you and ask for all the prayers you can pray. My beautiful, little grandaughter, Stella was diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive form of cancer, on Friday. She is currently in Buffalo Womens and Childrens Hospital in PICU. She has a NG tube, a cathater, two IVs, and is intubated. The tumor started in her pelvis and is pressing on her stomach, bladder, rectum and reproductive organs. It fills her entire pelvis and spills out beyond. It has matastased to her lungs as well. Tomorrow she will have a biopsy and bone marrow testing. On tuesday, while she turns ten months old, they plan to give her a central line for chemo ect…I do not have words for how I am feeling or what my daughter and son-in-law are experiencing. And we are so helpless. Please do the only thing that any of us can and pray for a miracle. I have to believe that she will be cured and live to be a mother and grandmother, herself. Thank you. I’ll do my best to keep you updated.
Much love, Mimi *

ALMIGHTY AND ETERNAL GOD, PLEASE BRING HEALING AND SPEEDY RECOVERY TO YOUR BELOVED LITTLE ONE STELLA. CRUSH THE CANCER WITH YOUR MIGHTY ARM AND BRING PEACE AND COMFORT TO HER FAMILY. PLEASE HOLD STELLA IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND AND DON’T ALLOW ILLNESS TO TAKE HER LIFE.
MARY OUR MOTHER, PLEASE INTERCEDE FOR YOUR DAUGHTER STELLA. PRAY TO YOUR SON FOR HE WON’T REFUSE YOU. HOLD STELLA IN YOUR LOVING ARMS.
AMEN!

Father God, may Your merciful hand be here in this situation with this precious baby and her family. May they cling to the robes of your Merciful Son in this time of incredible pain, who has suffered as we suffer, mentally in the garden, physically during the scourging, who was humiliated with a crown of thorns, and who carried the burdens of our sins on His back when He carried His cross. He gave us his physical body, as we also are called to give up our physical bodies in death, so that we might have eternal glory and life.

Touch this family with Your grace, Father God, let them know in their innermost souls the presence of the One who has promised that “I will never leave nor forsake you, Lo I am with you until the end of the world.”

Thank you everyone for praying for Baby Stella. She had been making improvments, but today I got this disturbing update. She needs some emergency prayers, please!

The doctors think that she may have had a heart attack this afternoon. A heart attack! Who has a heart attack at 10 months old? What is happening to my world! Who took over and is now driving the bus? Will someone please tell me because it’s completely out of control. I can’t stop it or even slow it down and I just want to get off please.

*Lloyd called from her room to give me an update. Her liver is not working as it should, thus the lack of clotting and the bleeding from her leg wounds. Her little belly, which was left open following the removal of her large bowel, is now bleeding as well. Her billirubin levels are high, further proof that her liver is not doing its job. The plans to remove the staples form her leg have been put on hold for two weeks, and there will be no more chemotherapy until she is much healthier. I see how hard she is fighting to survive and the toll that all of this is taking on her little body and I am ashamed of how weak I am. I can scarcely see the screen through the blur of tears and my nose runs without attention and I don’t feel any better or hopeful or happy or blessed. Tonight I am defeated. I can only pray, as I beg all of you to continue to do, that Stella is tougher than I. *

Dear Mimi… my heart goes out to you both and will continue to keep little Stella and you in daily prayer…

Mimi,
My heart goes out to you! I will pray very hard for Stella right now during my rosary. I don’t know what else to say. I pray that angels are surrounding her as she is going through this health crisis and that Our Lady is holding your hand through all of this. God’s peace be with you.

Mimi, I am still praying for baby Stella. My God ~ she is so beautiful…

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Still praying for baby Stella with tears in my eyes! God please help her!

I received another update on Baby Stella. Please keep these desperately needed prayers coming, she is improving! Praise God! 🙂

*Update for this day, January 31, 2008. Stella had surgery, her third in two weeks, this afternoon. It lasted about 2 hours. Dr. Caty pulled what he saved of her large bowel through her little body and out through the skin of her belly. He plans to put the finishing touches on the ostomy on Saturday. While in her belly, he checked on her liver and said that it was not necrotic or green with infection. It is enlarged but he feels that’s from the over work and the infection that she had. He is confident that now it will come back to full function…once Stella is ready for that to happen. He was also able to feel the mass in her pelvis and stated that it felt smaller than prior to the first round of chemo. All good stuff. She is puffier than ever, as they pushed so much fluid during the surgery but she is putting out urine by the bagful. Her belly wound has been temporarily-permanently closed with a gortex patch. It will allow the skin to come together and heal, once the swelling subsides, and still allow them to go back in once the chemo is done to resect any left over tumor. In her belly are two (Jackson-Pratt) hand-grenade- like drains that will allow any excess fluid to continue to come off and be measured. She remains on (TPN) IV nutrition but it is hoped that she can take nourishment via the gastric tube in a week or two so that her bowels can begin working semi normally again. As soon as the fluid is gone she can transfer to a standard vent.
Someday’s it feels like another lifetime ago that I last heard her laugh and say “da-da-da”. If not for the pictures on her bed I fear that I would begin to forget just how beautiful she was…is. I sometimes hate myself for getting used to seeing her so disfigured… I wonder how many more nights and days of this strain Katheryn and Adam can endure and I feel so old and tired. But today was a good day and Stella has amazed everyone…again.

Lord God, thank you for blessing Baby Stella. Please continue to heal her Jesus. Amen

I will be praying for Baby Stella and her family and you Mimi. May the Lord heal this entire family and give a miraculous cure to Stella. Lord have mercy on this family and help them during this difficult time.

I will be pray many Rosary’s for Stella!!

We continue to carry Baby Stella and her family in prayer.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to Thy protection, implored Thy help, or sought Thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto Thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to Thee do I come, before Thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in Thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

Thank you Jesus and Mother Mary. Praying for a miracle for Baby Stella. Thank you for all that you are going to do, sweet Jesus.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
