Baby's Siblings Present at Birth?

I never considered having my older children present at the birth of their siblings. I especially think it’s a mistake for younger children. There’s alot of blood and poop, and I don’t think seeing their mother in all her glory like that is a good thing for children. I had all drug-free deliveries, but wouldn’t consider adding the distraction of my older children, with all that goes on during the birth of a baby, not to mention that there could be an unforseen complication that would be very distressing to all concerned.

We always had the older children come in once the babe was cleaned an wrapped, and any stitches needed were taken care of.
