Anyone ever a precocious or fresh babysitter? I had a party, and the girl my wife wants to be our babysitter came to visit. Among other things, she tried to talk to me with no one else around on my back porch. Its freaking me out. Advice?

If you feel beyond a doubt that she was flirting with you–I’d look for a new sitter.😉 Definitely not worth having a fresh, flirty, or disrespectful sitter around your family.

I would say if you ever feel even a bit worried about your babysitter, don’t wait for there to be a real problem before finding a new one.

If you don’t like her find someone else. I don’t what the other things are but talking to you alone doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. Perhaps she was trying to feel you and your wife separately to see what y’all are like.

I’ve never had a babysitter I wasn’t absolutely comfortable with. Of course, we’re so picky, we’ve only ever had one non-family member babysitter. Sure it took us almost 6 years to find one we could trust, but totally worth it.

I had a young woman 5 years my junior as a live-in nanny (over 3 years) when my kids were babies. Needless to say there were plenty of times when she and my husband were in the house when I was not there. I NEVER had a moment’s concern about it~because of her professional demeanor and the appropriateness of her conduct at all times. If I had…she would have been let go within about 5 minutes. Don’t invite trouble like this into your home, you can find plenty of qualified people out there with some effort and diligence–including checking with their references.

As a former babysitter, I would have avoided the dad if possible. If she is going out of her way to talk to you she either finds you “interesting” or maybe she has dad issues. Good Luck…

Your other thread traillius talks about how stressed your wife is right now relating to her health issues…it would be best to invite only positive situations into your home. Even if she didn’t have health issues, I would say the same…

We had a parttime nanny years ago, and she was college age, and very professional. I agree with Island Oak, that there are PLENTY of babysitters who won’t make you or your wife feel uncomfortable. Sometimes, when we go against those initial gut instincts…we regret not listening! Good luck to you with this.

Interesting> ? huh?

Interesting as in a crush on you or whatever kids say these days. i was always very nervous around the dads preferring to deal with the moms if possible.

Danger, Will Robinson, danger. Run away! Hide behind your wife’s apron!

I’ve baby-sat, nannied, mother’s helpered, and all that. I’d avoid the dads too, with maybe one exception, but the mom was always near by. I’d really think about getting a new sitter. Remember that your kids will see the way she, an older girl, acts to you and your wife.
Here’s an idea - find a local Catholic homeschool group! They have the best baby sitters you can ever find!

God bless!

I tried all that stuff, told my wife and everything. She told me it was a mom thing, and her decision. I guess if I see her ( the babysitter) coming, I will go in another direction fast. RED ALERT!!!

You mentioned before that your wife is disabled. Could it be possible that the sitter wanted to ask some questions about the disability? Sometimes people who do not know disabled people are afraid of offending by saying or doing the wrong thing.
