Babysitting Rates and Buying a Van

We test drove a van today that is well within our price range and in very good condition, sold by a guy who lives 2 miles away from us. He’s actually interested in the car we have now (that we want to sell). He is willing to trade our cars plus have us pay him an additional $500, as long as our car checks out at his mechanic’s. We are supposed to take the car on Friday, and if all is well we’ll have our new-to-us van on Saturday.

I know this is such a small thing compared to everything else going on in the world, but I would really appreciate prayers for this to work out!

We’re not, but it just passed inspection and we have the vehicle history and service records. If we didn’t, or the inspection was older, we would definitely be doing the same.
 
😃 We have a van!!! 😃

Did the paperwork early this afternoon. Paid $700 cash (to cover the cost of a few small repairs), and traded cars with the other guy, who is going to give our old car to his college-aged daughter.

Seriously, this is the way to buy a car. Of course, we found someone who had what we wanted and we had what he wanted, and he was an honest guy (also Catholic - we noted the guardian angel pin on his visor and he noted our auto rosary :p). Much better than feeling harassed by dealers. 👍

Talked to the parents and they’ve agreed to the $180/week and to buy carseats.

God is good. (You’d think I’d get that by now…)
