Back from retreat

I am back from my 4 day retreat. I am happy to report that my Brother took good care of the cats while I was away. I did receive the Sacrament Of The Annointing Of The Sick on Wednesday morning. I did the usual sort of praying and reading that you might expect on a retreat. šŸ™‚

The only bother were the peafowl. Female peafowl are called peahens. Male peafowl are called peacocks and tend to scream all night. However, it is very much against the law to wring their necks, however much they deserve it.šŸ˜¦

I go back to work tomorrow.

be sure and read what the catechism says about the ā€œAnointing of the Sickā€. A bit over a month ago, I went on a retreat for those facing serious illness and also received the Anointing of the Sick. Reading about it in the catechism was very encouraging. I especially liked reading CCC # 1521.

And see what the catechism of Saint Pope Pius X says (and look into other old church documents too). I think you will find that this sacrament is such wonderful merciful expression of Godā€™s love for us.

The Baltimore Catechism says the sacrament ā€œcleanses our soul from the remains of sinā€.

The peafowl wouldnā€™t have bothered me much. Were they right outside your window?

The recent retreat was my first (overnight) Catholic retreat. It was Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. It was a wonderful experience and I wish my wife or stepdaughter would go to one sometime. And I hope to go to another retreat again sometime.

Were there any albino ones? I used to live in Sarasota Florida and a few nearby different places had them (near Bradenton). There was at least one albino peafowl somewhere and I thought it was so beautiful. All white feathers, just the same as a normal peacock. Except it was all white and so beautiful.

Lucky you getting to go on two retreats in two months!

Thereā€™s slim pickings around here retreat-wise unless I want to spend exorbitant cash travelling to way out of the way places sigh

At least EWTN has a great series taking you through St Ignatiusā€™ spiritual exercises as you would do on an Ignatian Retreat, as well as others more suited to Lent and Advent and such.

By the way Harry Iā€™ve just last week decided to join the great big happy Franciscan family too, so I may soon be wearing a Tau or a San Damiano cross of my own šŸ˜ƒ

In my case itā€™s the Ecumenical Order of St Francis (restricted to Apostolic Christian denominations, so Orthodox, Catholic and some Protestants). I like the idea that St Francis is so inspirational to our separated brethren too.
