Back to Mass: South Dakota diocese lifts Sunday dispensation

South Dakota was one the states least affected by the coronavirus so if anyone was going to be first, it would be them. I imagine that the vast majority of dioceses in the U.S. will keep their dispensations for the rest of 2020 and well into 2021. I don’t think it will be until next spring/summer when a large number of dioceses start lifting dispensations, assuming we get a vaccine that is at least somewhat effective. The vaccine will probably be ready at the end of this year or beginning of next from the looks of things, but it will take time to produce and distribute, plus the winter is cold and flu season, so it will probably be after next winter when things start to go back to “normal”. Though I expect some of the “social distancing” practices will be around for much longer than that.
