Aquinas, and his intended readers. hadn’t been so mis-educated as we have been! I took my first philosophy courses in the late '70s and the history went from Aristotle to Descartes, leaping over everything in between as useless. In retrospect, I realize my philosophy profs paid attention to the moderns first and most (-in their own training) and MISunderstood what little ancient philosophy they may actually have read.
