First Kerry looses the election and now three of the favorite illicit Catholic mass practices taken away! What’s a liberal Catholic to do? Next they’ll take away the liturgical dancers as a mental health hazard.

Widespread fear of a deadly flu season is prompting many of us to make some changes. Even century’s old practices are getting a bit of an overhaul.

“This is a whole new ball game this time," says Fr. Harry Koelker of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

That’s because until now, there’s never been such a serious shortage of flu vaccine and such a large number of people susceptable to the virus.

That’s why parishioners at St. Joseph’s are being asked not to shake hands during the sign of peace.

Nor are they supposed to hold hands during the Lord’s Prayer.

And lastly, they are to avoid the communal wine cup if their health is ailing.

They’re meaningful, symbolic gestures that may change the mass…but shouldn’t change what’s in the hearts of these folks.

Betty Staudt, a parishioner, tells KIMT NewsChannel 3, “We receive the body and blood when we receive the bread and so to me, I’m still receiving the body and blood even if I don’t receive from the cup.”

It’s greatly appreciated cooperation coupled with a sense of temporary loss.

“Watching people join hands and watching people extend the sign of peace with a hand gesture and seeing those smiling faces, I do kinda miss that,” says Fr. Koelker.

But he won’t have to miss it for long…just long enough to his congregation stays healthy.

Saint Joseph’s plans on keeping them in place throughout the winter months.

perhaps liturgical dancers should be required to wear face masks during flu season, or be prohibitted from breathing (now that would solve a lot of abuses)

Is there anything in the history of the Church, the writings of the Church Fathers, the Traditions of the Church or even a custom that warrants having “liturgical dance” ?

How about:

Liturgical rap
Liturgical skating
Liturgical face painting
Liturgical body piercing
Liturgical tattoos
Liturgical drinking
Liturgical square dancing
Liturgical juggling…

How about paper bags over their heads.
(Plastic bags…I don’t know, some may think the bag is a toy.)

Just curious, you’re not suggesting that the laity rec. the Most Precious Blood is illicit, are you?

Boy, i would sure hate to see the Liturgical Dancers go…

The fastest growing part of the body of Christ is in Africa. There are many vocations to the priesthood. When the pope visited Africa there was Liturgical Dance as it is part of their tradition (Small t). May God bless our brothers and sisters in Christ for their faith.

The most fertile patch of the Mystical Body of Christ is the Traditionalists!!! No one else can squeeze some many voactions from nothing!! Where ever the Trads are, there are priests. It doesn’t matter if it is Africa or India or the USA, if there are Trad.,'s then the priests and nuns will grow there.
