So… eating bacon could be a sin, if done with a contraptive intention! Sometimes i think we know *too *much 😦

I don’t think we know too much. However, this article just proved a point I’ve been thinking about some 25 years. Namely that God had good reasons for the rules He gave the ancient Jews. Bacon comes from pigs, does it not. And God declared pigs as unclean animals, and the Jews weren’t allowed to eat them. I think there are several good reasons for that rule, but now this is another one. Back then, God wanted the ancient Jews to be fruitful and multiply. Now we find out eating pork can prevent a man from having fertile sperm. So that’s a good, realistic reason to make pigs unclean.

We don’t know too much, actually we don’t know enough. When I 1st read the OT I was younger, and I thought some of the rules God gave His people were kind of nonsensical. But as the years have gone by, I keep hearing about a very good logical reason for God’s rules. I think it’s great when people discover these things. 👍

The article is actually not about bacon; it’s about processed meat.

Fact is, the majority of those in the western world, and increasing numbers in the eastern world, are not living that life that God intended. If you are eating processed foods, overweight, not exercising, surrounding yourself with environmental toxins, etc., you will suffer the consequences. One of those consequences will be decreased fertility.

My husband and I love bacon, and we have “honeymoon twins”! ;):D:)🤷

That is true. This headlines makes pigs the enemy here when really its about the nitrates used in the production of processed meats. Pregnant women are told to avoid processed meats also for several reasons but one of those is that nitrates compromises the thyroid axis disturbing hormones. Stud horses who have drunk nitrates infected water are also known to suffer reduced fertility.

The problem here is nitrates (as well as all the other toxic elements used in processed foods). We are generally safe having a small amount of any processed food in the diet, but to make it a staple is going to compromise numerous internal systems.

So…the lesson would seem to be that contraception is…baloney!

WHY?! Why, God, why?! Is this because of the hardness of our hearts?! Why would you bestow this plague upon us?

I know plenty of bacon-eating men with no fertility concerns, so I would say to take the study with a big grain of salt. (Or maybe some bacon salt! Anyone seen that? It’s awesome!)

It is now easy to find nitrate free food, at least synthetic nitrates. Many companies just switched to celery powder which is naturally high in nitrates, but I guess it is a “natural” source.

Costco sells Coleman bacon that has no nitrates added. It must be frozen or consumed fairly quickly. No letting it sit in the fridge for weeks on end. It tastes wonderful and our 8 kids over the last 14 years of marriage seems to disprove the pork causes sterility.

Processed food is ALWAYS bad for you. A little might not cause problems, but how many people do you know cook meals at home EVERY day? How many of those that do cook home meals pay the extra money to buy fresh, un-cured meat from the local butcher or the Costco types and use it quickly?

Sometimes I think we are island in our family. We grow and freeze the vast majority of our veggies. We buy grass fed beef that is produced locally, butchered locally and consumed locally. The same with most of our chickens and pork. McDonalds “food” and the “dinners” that come in boxes just make me want to cringe.
