After I confessed my Sins and the priest started giving me advice, I remembered a few more, and one was mortal. After the priest assigned me a Penance and asked me to say the act of contrition, I told him that I have more sins to say. He asked me to ask God pardon for them. My sin would compromise my dad (and I was confessing to the parish priest) so I didn’t say anything. I would’ve confessed the sin if the priest had asked me to continue. I feel like I bad a made confession because I didn’t want to reveal my sin (which I would’ve and wanted to confess anyway). One more reason why I didn’t continue was because I didn’t want to be a nuisance to the priest.

Actually, let me rephrase that. I went to confession and remembered a mortal sin that involved my father during the examination. I was hesitant to confess the sin because the priest may get a bad impression on my father. But I ‘manned up’ and went anyway. I forgot the sin while confessing and remembered only when the priest was talking. I remembered the sin again and didn’t want to confess it. But I manned up again and told the priest I had more sins to confess. He told me to ask God pardon (meaning don’t tell them) and because I didn’t want to be a nuisance I left. I feel like I made a bad confession because I didn’t wanna confess the sin.

Hi @cookie-san

Here we are confessing to Jesus and not to a priest, we should always have this attitude ,secondly, when we complete saying our sins ,we end it by say ,for these and for those sins i have forgotten i humbly ask pardon of God and of you Father or similar prayers and sentiments,so those sins will also be forgiven which we have forgotten as we are weak humans Jesus understands it,but deliberately hiding mortal sins is committing another mortal sin, because your willfully with full consent and will ,your saying a lie to a anointed priest which is sin against the Holy Spirit,So sure its a bad confession its better you make another confession since its a mortal sin and your conscience also will be at peace

Thirdly your not having sorrow for sins committed which is a basic requirement for a valid confession, which is not Godly repentance, your more worried about the priest thinking about bad impression of your father rather than God Almighty who is loving and forgiving,i too made similar bad confessions but later realized my mistakes and corrected it,in such cases it is better to go to an unknown priest to confess or remake the confession to the same priest saying you have lied in the confessional ,don’t worry its Jesus Himself

You were going to tell the sin, but the priest said to tell God.

You are fine
