Bad Dream- Spiritual or mental?

I am not sure where to put this. but here goes.
In a dream I had last night a voice told me it was evil and going to kill me> Could this have some supernatural or spiritual dimension, or is it just my mind? * confused *

Dreams are influenced by many things. They can be spiritual in nature and they can also be based purely on our experiences, desires, fears etc. Sometimes it is as simple as being influenced by something we read, news we have seen or television we have watched. I would not worry about a dream such as yours, unless you start having a lot of them. If that happens, you may want to talk to a professional (priest, doctor, mentor etc).

Annie’s advice is great. You might also try placing yourself under the protection of Our Blessed Mother. Ask her to watch over you, as you sleep. She’s wonderful about responding to her children, in this way. For she is every bit… our Mother, too. God bless.

It’s hard to make a call on whether or not it was demonic or just your brain based on a single incident, but here’s a prayer that can help nip it in the bud, whatever it was:

Bedtime Protection Prayer

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, strengthened by the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Blessed Michael the Archangel, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and all the Saints and Angels of Heaven, and powerful in the holy authority of the name His Name, I subject my mind and my dreams only to the work of the Holy Spirit. I ask you Lord to bind up all powers of darkness and forbid them to work in my dreams or any part of my subconscious while I sleep. Amen.

Some good advice in this thread. With dreams and other matters I take them as disturbances from the unconscious into the conscious mind in some way (i.e. mental in origin)…as remembering a dream can be. Personally, I would never take a dream as having some kind of spiritual origin in any way unless I subjected it to a priest or a spiritual director - and then would take what was stated to me as valid and would follow any advice given.
If The Lord wishes to communicate something to someone in an unusual way(s), then it will get through somehow and be recognized as the spiritual and not the mental…“If God is with us, who can be against us?” and nothing is every lost by obedience (virtue of) to a priest or spiritual director. If they are wrong, and it is The Lord in some way, then The Lord will make it known to them in some way, if this is His Will. Trust God with consistent and unyielding confidence in all things - a sure and safe path in all matters.
