bad dreams

please pray for my daughter as she seems to be having a lot of bad dreams lately and she has a difficult time sleeping. her latest dream was that my husband died. a previous dream was about a man chasing her, running past her and killing someone else. I pray that she gets some restful sleep and that these dreams stop. i’m actually considering having her ask our priest for a blessing. (she is a college student).;:gopray2: :sleep:

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours, night prayers:

Keep us safe, Lord, while we are awake, and guard us as we sleep, so that awake we can keep watch with Christ and asleep rest in His peace.
Prayer
Let us pray.
Give our bodies rest, Lord, to restore them; and let the seeds sown by our labours today grow and yield an eternal harvest.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
May the almighty Lord grant us a quiet night and a perfect end.

It might help her to pray the Rosary as she goes to sleep (I’d suggest skipping the sorrowful mysteries though). Also get her a bottle of holy water if you can and tell her to sprinkle some on her bed before going to sleep and bless herself with it then as well.

And to visualise her guardian angel and all of yours standing guard over you to protect you.

A talk to a good counsellor at college would probably help too. It certainly can’t hurt.

I will keep her in my prayers too and since she is a student, here is a prayer that I actually was looking for for someone else but when I read that your daughter is a student too, well, it couldn’t hurt.
A STUDENT’S PRAYER
Loving Father,
I stand before You in the midst of confusion and complexities of life.
My future sometimes seems distant and unknown.
Give me, O Lord, the vision to see the path You set before me.
Grant me the courage to follow Your way,
that through the gifts and talents You have given me,
I may bring Your life and Your love to others.
I ask this through Jesus, Your Son and my Brother. Amen.
(I think the Rosary and Holy water advice is good too, and the prayer to her Guardian Angel and does anyone else notice that the pheonix is always right in the right place at the right time?)

thank you for your prayers, I and my daughter appreciate them very much. Also thank you for your suggestions and prayers you have posted for my daughter to pray.

I would suggest a short session of family prayer with stories of Christ and the Saints before bed time. I would maybe pray a decade of the Rosary where the child has her own blessed Rosary, explain the mystery to her, and then hang the Rosary on her bed beside the pillow.

I promise success as I had to do it here with one of my daughters.

The daughter is an adult, not a child. I don’t think bedtime stories are quite the thing, nor that she needs any explanation of how to pray the Rosary, at that age.
 
Will pray for her Kate. I keep my rosary under my pillow…sounds weird, but it gives me a bit of comfort knowing it’s there sometimes…
 
Prayer is powerful and CAF is wonderful. It seems like were kind of like a family where we all care about each others needs and in our own sense we are all prayer warriors, although some of us are unable to commit to being a prayer warrior on CAF. We all have our own personal commitments, but we are still there for each other. Thank you all for you support and prayers. My daughter thanks you too. She didn’t have any “bad dreams” last night, but her night wasn’t restful , as she awoke every two hours. Maybe it is just the heat. ;:grouphug:

I’m praying for her now!! Make sure you use the Holy Water on her and her bed. It really works!!

Isn’t this how it’s supposed to be? Isn’t this what Jesus envisioned when he instituted the Church? Don’t forget our extended family, the Saints in Heaven and the Souls in Purgatory who constantly pray for us. We are all in this together.

This is what God really intended in humans…to heal not to hurt…to love not to hate. It is through the Church (family) that people become who their meant to be.
