Going back to when I first purchased the house a year ago it’s been nothing but disaster, termites, roach infestation, drain flies, roof leak, 3 break ins, blocked condensation line flood and damaged floors, bathroom leak, frozen pipes, cracking ceilings everywhere, more stuff that I don’t feel inclined to go into. The drain flies that won’t go away no matter how much I clean the drains are the final straw for me. They are show up at the edges of the carpeting in other rooms even though I vacum everyday and have put down boric acid. I prayed and asked GOD for an answer and he gave me drain flies so that my answer time to call it day. I prayed, had the house blessed, put in icons and religous art to no avail.

The answer is so simple (I hope); keep the plugs in all your drains when not in use. You could also look for one of those drain “snake” cleaners and try to clean the pipes out a bit.

It works. My house is very old, I don’t have drain flies but the few bugs I have seen over the last year I determined were drain related. OP, pull the stop on your drains. It’s become such a habit for me that I even do it at other people’s houses. 😊

Folks I’ve done all of the above and beyond for months. I thought having the roof fixed and condensation line replaced would solve the problem I thought it was due to those leaks. No such luck. These could also be Phlorid flies. From what I’ve read a constant infestation usually means greater problems such as leaking sewer or drain pipe under the slab foundation and contaminated soil with a price tag of $25,000 to correct…I don’t have that kind of money and I’m sick of worrying about leaving my lights on or leaving the house too long to come home and find them everywhere. It’s been all I can do to keep them under control.
