Brothers and Sisters in Christ;
Do not watch the movie ‘The Young Pope’
starring Jude Law and Diane Keaton. These people who
made this not for Catholics movie, must really hate Catholics
and the Catholic Church. The actor portrays Pope Pius X11,
so it claims, and he is very revolutionary, and also very
strange. There is a lot of blasphemy, and sexual suggestions,
sexual acts and images. They total distort our faith; and show
their utter disdain for our faith, and our Pope. Only one good
speech by the actor pope during his trip to Africa. Other than
that it is a total dud for Catholics, quite visually disturbing,
graphic images; full of immorality, and toxic scenes about the
Pope. Totally not of our faith; does not represent our Faith.
Be warned, don’t watch it. You will be quite offended, and
sorry that you did.

Oh my! I would have never suspected Hells Broadcasting Organization (HBO) to air such filth!

I disagree, I watched this entire series.

The young Pope portrays a very pious hard line Pope.

So Pius!!!

The young Pope isn’t about love, he is about repentence. Hardliners pre Vat11 would love him.

Okay, a TV series in Movie Format. So what? If you like watching
movies with sex acts, and sexual images portrayed, and blasphemous
suggestions thoughout; I just don’t find anything repentant about it;
and certainly most Catholics would find the series then, very anti-Catholic!

Apparently it was mainly worked on by Catholics and the aim is to show the Pope as human, with struggles. Perhaps the aim of the show is a story of repentance. I do, however, wish it was less graphic.

I am going to watch the movie and enjoy it just out of spite.

There is no blasphemy in it, and as with all media, you don’t have to watch the sex. But yes it deals with SSA Priests and potential Priests and what the young Pope does about it. Hard line

Each to his own I guess, but each person can make up their own mind
if they brave the series which is out in dvd and digital format now. But I
don’t believe their views in this series reflect the Deposit of Faith, and
it is graphically gross in a lot of the images. A warning was all I was giving.
I cannot order people to not watch, or to not like the series. This is just my
particular Catholic view, and I tend to be compassionate, and accepting.
But this movie crossed the bar for me in a lot of ways.

Who watches today’s trash movies? Or TV? You want an uplifting movie? Do you like Gregory Peck? Sir John Gielgud? Christopher Plummer?

The Scarlet and the Black (1983). A much closer to reality pic about the Vatican during the WWII nazi occupation of Rome . It tells the story of Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty, who is credited with saving of 6,500 allied soldiers and Jews. Watch it.

You know, I started watching it. And had the same reaction you did. Then I thought, what’s the message with this series. What’s it all about.

And I didn’t work that out until about the fourth time the young Pope was talking about everyone asking God for forgiveness.

And everyone putting God before and above every thing else.

So in my secular atheist world, if my heathen or lukewarm Catholic friends even begin to think about that message, the filmmakers have achieved their aim.

It’s anti SSM , pro Prayer
Anti idolism, anti corruption . The young Pope attends Reconcilliation frequently. Everything we Catholics should do. He also starts wearing the crown again.

I then started watching the Capuchin monk seminary series - fiction- on Netflix and stopped. That is blasphemous. As is house of cards.

Isn’t the director for this program the same director of "The Great Beauty " the Italian film that won the Oscar a couple of years ago?

I really enjoyed it actually, each to their own, but there are a lot less sympathetic movies and TV series, both fictional and “factual” about The Church or our Faith which are far more offensive to Catholics IMHO.
