You reminded me of another. Once Upon A Time In The West

This movie has a lot going for it CAST-WISE but it is weak on plot. For over two and a half hours, you keep asking yourself where this story and all its gore are going. It’s finally revealed at the bitter end (Are you ready? How’s this for an original plot?): After 165 minutes you learn the railroad hired the outlaws to drive out the ranchers to get their land. When it’s finally over, you are still left with one last question: why couldn’t the director have done this story in 90 minutes, or preferably, less?

I thought Helen Slater did quite well as the Girl of Steel – and in fact, it’s my understanding she is still, to this day, in demand at Superman conventions.

CBS is currently developing a “Supergirl” TV series. Hopefully it succeeds where the movie failed.

Since I made that post, both Helen Slater and Dean Cain (Superman on the '90s TV series Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) have been hired for guest roles, as yet unrevealed, on the new Supergirl series. 👍

Because the director was Sergio Leone–never one afraid of the “long shot”–but he didn’t do it so well in this one (done MUCH better in The Good, The Bad, and the ugly)

Weak on plot? Maybe.
But it’s obvious who the bad guys are unless you need it spelled it out T-H-E R-A-I-L-R-O-A-D I-S H-I-R-I-N-G B-A-D G-U-Y-S. There’s a reference fairly early in where the head railroad guy says something to Henry Fonda about “sweeping obstructions from the tracks.”

I love the movie because it’s the only one I know of where Henry Fonda played a bad guy.

As far as bad movies, nothing can beat blaxploitation movies from the 70/80s the best [sic] of which were Pam Greer’s. Of course they are all objectionable.

HaHa! True story: We were eating dinner one night, and my father turned to my mom and asked, “Did anything interesting happen at work today?” She said, “Yes. Some college students asked me for permission to film a movie in the library today. Since it’s Summer, and there are no classes going on right now, I told them to go ahead”. (My mom was acting director for the Summer) The movie? Yep. “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes”. It’s a family favorite. 🍿 -Steve Peace is a nice Catholic boy from around here and went on have a successful career in local politics.

I have so many “guilty pleasures,” I would not no where to start. I love horror films, exploitation films, action movies… I’ll need to study on this a while.
 
Just remembered a recent bad movie that I saw - the Bollywood movie Kites.

Usually a Bollywood movie has several elaborate dance numbers. This picture had only one, relatively low-key dance scene – and a bunch of ridiculous action sequences that would be more appropriate in a Michael Bay movie. The ending is also depressing.

Certainly the worst Bollywood movie I’ve seen, by a wide margin.

I thought you were talking about Once Upon a Time in America at first. That was an awful movie with a great cast. It was 3 and a half hours too long.
 
Hold your nose and watch “Interstellar.”

Makes absolutely no sense, and McConahee gravel-voices his way through with little charisma.
 
Saw one last week that may qualify for this list: Silver Hawk (2004) starring Asian action superstar Michelle Yeoh. Though it’s a Hong Kong action film, from what I could tell most of the dialogue is actually in English (not dubbed from Cantonese or Mandarin). There was some dialogue in Cantonese that was, annoyingly, not subtitled so I couldn’t tell what they were saying. :confused:

Much of the English dialogue was awful, in both the content and the delivery. Also they had British actor Luke Goss (who I’ve seen before in One Night with the King and Hellboy II) chewing the scenery as Evil Bald White Dude. 😛 (EDIT: Silver Hawk was made before those two other films.)

At least they had some cool action scenes to make the movie somewhat worthwhile.
 
I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for those Italian sword and sandals movies (aka ‘peplum’) about the adventures of Hercules or other heroes from Greek mythology, often starring musclemen-turned-actors such as Steve Reeves. These movies remind me of quiet Saturday afternoons when I was a child.

Plot twist: there’s no troll (or trolls) involved, and it wasn’t really the sequel to anything except by name. 😛

Not a peplum per se, but I did remember this Mexican film, Santo vs. las Mujeres Vampiro (aka Samson vs. the Vampire Women), where wrestler El Santo - who for some reason became ‘Samson’ in the English version - fights…well, vampires. It’s not so much bad as, y’know, campy.

Can I just say how much I’m enjoying this thread? Especially since we’ve invoked “Mystery Science Theatre 3000” and Italian sword and sandals movies?
