Bahrain-Islam and Superstition

Hi there!

During Eid, I went to Bahrain for some much needed freedom. I saw the new Bahraini Financial Center undergoing construction. This building is very modern. I like architecture, you know. So, I decided to explore the site to see whether it has 13th floor or not. I was suprised to find out that the building doesn’t 13th floor marked on the elevator or superstructure. I thought Muslim don’t believe in superstition or whatever but Allah and his Prophet. Can someone explain this to me?

What do you guys (Muslim) think about Bahrain? I have been there so many times, I love the place. It’s very modern and tolerant. Bahrain allows the infidels (US, British, and Aussie) to be their protectorate. Pork and alcohol consumption is allowed, eaten, and flowed freely even during Ramadan. People can wear whatever they want. Infidel music like rap and hip-hop can be heard on the radio. Christmas light and music are played during the holiday. Catholic Cardinal is allowed to greet at the king’s palace during Eid. Bahrain has churches of all kind. Catholic charitable works are allowed to help the poors there. There is no mosque on every corner. You hardly hear call to pray on the speaker.

There is nothing missing in Bahrain except casino gaming. There are Formula One and horse racing, I’m pretty sure people bet on those games. Are the Bahrainis not following Islam by allowing western evil and vices on their land? And at the same time, they’re also taking other Muslim brethren down with them into sins because Bahrain is a party haven for the Arabs. Are you outrage?

To my Christian brethren, if you want to experience the Middle East, Bahrain is the place to be. You could be as white as Joe Texas, nobody cares while in Bahrain.

Muslims (talking about people actually following Islam) do not believe in superstition.

The rest of your post was kind of saddening…how far we have strayed. Allah warns us not to buy the life of this world for the life of the next. May Allah guide them and us and all of you. Allah guides who He wills and lets who He wills go astray. Alhamdulilah

All i know about Bahrein is that is Shia Muslims,and they might have strange practices there,i wouldnt be surprised?
They have that Adura ritual,where they are punishing themself,well i cant say more

Anyways Bahrein is rich small country near Iran on Arabian subcontinent

And yes,latest i hear is that Wacko Jacko will settle there :eek:
 
I reply with the same words of faith101. I also wish to add that you should not judge islam by the practices of any country where the majority of inhabitants are Muslims. Infact, Bahrain is majority Shia Muslims, and its important christians distinguish Sunni Islam from Shia Islam, just as Muslims should distinguish between Catholicism and Mormonism. Still though, the way you described the country is very contrary to Islamic teachings, even for shia muslims. I was surprised at how far the country has gone away from Islam, it was as if you were describing a european or western country.

Mugen, by the way you posted, you seemed fond of the practices of the country. Doesn’t christianity look down on things like gambling, alcohol consumption, and rap music? Isnt there consession on how a christian woman should dress, not refering to the scarf but simply that she does not expose her body but dresses conservatively?

These are all immoral things in Islam, and i would have thought christianity as well, or am i wrong?
 
Shia claims they are Islam. Anyway, Westerners like Bahrain because of its moderate atmosphere. Yes, moderation is the key in whatever you do.

Moderation is good, and moderation shouldnt mean allowance of immoral behavior. Besides, our interpretation of moderation is rooted to our religious teachings, and i asked you those questions based on what your religion says.
 
Gambling and alcohol conpsumtion are not evil if you do it socially and moderately. If you abuse it and let it takes control of your life, then it’s a different issues.

Satan’s plan is (but) to excite enmity and hatred between you, with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah, and from prayer:** will ye not then abstain**? (Quran 5:91)

Many bars are open after the inaguration of the causeway to Bahrain which built by former king Fahd for his citizens to enjoy the week end there. Believe it, Saudis can be found frequently in all the bars. I had been there before and after the inaguration of the causeway.

Again, Allah has warned us of what will happen to us if we buy the life of this world and pay with the price of the next.

It is not a surprise to me that some Muslims drink, gamble, etc. May Allah guide them to realize that they were not created in play…and that to HIM they will return.

When i hear stuff like that…I usually say a supplication that loosely translates to “Oh Allah do not let our disasters be in our faith/religion” everything else outside of religion will vanish. May Allah protect us from the Devils wispers. ameen.
