It used to be a thriving anime site with numerous members—OK, not as many as here!—but lately I noticed there are maybe only a handful of posters remaining.

I respond there to subscribed threads, which isn’t often, and then I take a quick look around the board to maybe welcome new members or see whether anything interesting is going on.

But yesterday was the last straw. The remaining handful (a vociferously left-leaning bunch) made some vicious and untrue remarks about a certain Presidential candidate AND the nature of his Christian supporters and his beliefs.

not turning this into a political discussion, but giving my reasons for abandoning that particular board

Gee, fellas, could that possibly be the reason you’re down to a handful of forum members? Maybe you ran the rest of us off by assuming everyone agrees with your agenda and the rest of us are idiots.

Since my bitter, Bible-totin’, gun-clingin’ type is no longer welcome there—guess I’ll stick to Christian anime boards, and here, with my handful of fellow otaku. 😉

I still has a sad, though. 😦

I know how you feel. I ended up abandoning a forum I really liked for similar reasons. Every time a religious/political topic came up, it was incredibly awkward for me because conservative Christians would get blasted and condemned. I found myself thinking “these guys pride themselves on being liberal and tolerant…where is the tolerance for Christians?”

Eventually the religious/political topics overshadowed the other fun parts of the board. I felt less than welcome and decided to bow out. I won’t be going back, at least until after the election.

Yeah, it’s a shame. That whole ‘tolerance’ thing is a joke. To them, it really means, “I get to say what I want but you don’t.”

I am reminded of Fadda John Corapi:

“No one has to tolerate evil.”

Hmm… perhaps you should start an Otaku Club down over at the Clubhouse? 🤷
