Does anyone know what the difference is between the numbers of them… What is the diff between Baltimore catechsim 1 and Baltimore catechism 3. Are they different editions or are they part of a complete set?/

Same Baltimore Catechism, but the different numbers indicate how in depth they go into the teachings - what age levels they are designed for.

If memory serves me correct - Number 1 is for grades 3-4 and 5. Number 2 is for 6-7 and 8. And number 3 is for high school and adult.

I use this edition of Number 3 still to this day - my favorite catechism. Rock solid and unabashidly Catholic. Very in depth with additional commentary and explanations.

Good stuff! 👍

Peace in Christ,

Number 1 was a basic catechism designed for very young, pre first communion children mainly children. Number 2 was a little more advanced and was aimed at older children preparing for confirmation. Number 3 was a more extensive catechism designed for post confirmation students. There was also what was termed a 0 which was just the basic prayers and a little doctrine designed to instruct kindergarden or so.

I have never seen one, but was led to believe there was also a Number 4 for adults.
